I have been taking care of children since I was a child myself. I grew up in Burns Park and was lucky to be surrounded with an abundance of families with children my age as well as younger than me. When I was old enough to help, I began to realize that Childcare was a talent that I had.
I would help a woman with her twins and three year old daughter when I was eight or nine years old. She told me I was a big help to her. I remember her confiding in me and feeling that I meant a lot to her family.
I helped another family of six with their four children. I assisted with the two older children, mainly by encouraging them to “help me” clean up their rooms and the play areas. We would also go places together and especially on Saturday, I was utilized to push the stroller for them because of their religion.
As I grew up and was able to babysit by myself I received neighborhood jobs and got referred by the families I originally started out with. I had some of my first regular jobs when I was fifteen years old. Many of these families continued to call me into High School and I still keep in touch with some of them today.
The family that I found in the last two years (Jonathan and Luda) was when I was working at Arbor Hills Salon and Day Spa and was asked by a woman that works their if I babysat. I cared for their first child before their second was born and then after they had their second child, the need for a temporary nanny came. I was available and I was their nanny for three months.
I became their Nanny until their family moved to South Carolina in May of 2007. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to search for my own permanent Nanny position. |
