January 20, 2006-Yahoo!Toolbar and Homepages

Yep, today I want to talk about the Yahoo toolbar. First though let me tell you how I am set up in my browser.

When I got my computer, my home page was MSN. I created a My Msn homepage. That is the one that opens for my Internet Explorer.

My toolbar is Msn also.

However I have also created a My Yahoo Homepage. I have all my favorite content on it.

And so, over a period of time, I have used more and more of Yahoo's services, so one day I decided that it would be nice to also have the Yahoo toolbar.

I downloaded it.I love it; it was very easy to install also. It is called Yahoo! companion.

So from it I can access all sorts of Yahoo services. Now this toolbar can be customized and that is what I want to talk about now.

Once the tool bar is installed, click on all the little arrows for the dropdown menus and see all the possibilities. Under the large Y! for example you have all sorts of areas of interest you can click on.

Ok, that is wonderful but the best is yet to come because if you click on the arrow next to the pencil, click on personal options, and  add/edit buttons, Yahoo will open a page for you where you can choose the buttons you want on your toolbar. You can change these at any time.

So check those you want and uncheck  or leave unchecked those you don't want.  Don't forget to click Finished at the end or it won't happen. Now, once you've had all your buttons for a while, you will know which ones you use most often. Then you can go back to this page the sane way you just did so, and customize the layout...in other words place the most used buttons first and the others after. I'm sure you will have noticed by then that if you have a lot of buttons on your toolbar, as I have, some will be placed in a dropdown menu due to lack of space.

Once you have customized this toolbar, you have everything at your fingertips. Enjoy!

Ok let's talk a bit about a personalized homepage in Yahoo and Msn. On both of these pages. Msn or Yahoo homepage, there is a button to personalize the page. Click on it and follow the instructions. You can change the background, the layout, the content. Take your time; do it a bit at a time until you have what you want.

Later, you may decide to bypass the old homepage and make my msn or my yahoo your homepage. We'll see about that later.

Ok that's it for now...except...

Have you emptied your recycle bin today? right click and  empty...ciao for now.
