I feel like I have been MIA. I have been very busy with computer issues.
First of all, my anti-virus program ran out (I will not mention the name here).
However, I decided to try AVG-Free; many of my friends have it and are very happy with it.
It was easy to download and easy to install.The only problem one can run into is a conflict created if some files are left over on the computer from the old anti-virus program. I used the add/remove function to uninstall the program; then, I did a search with the name of the program; I used the actual name and also the company name. I noted where all the files were and did a manual removal of them all.
Then, I installed AVG; a piece of cake!!!!It is set to update and scan every day at the same time.
So, I am happy with this new development.
Then, as I was reading the sales on Friday night, I saw an advertisement for a gadget for recording LPs and cassettes to audio CD and MP3.I bought it, installed it; it does all sorts of things.I can certainly upload my music to my computer; however, I had other plans. I wanted to change these audio files to mp3's. Well, come to find out, I will need some other program to convert them.That's not good news since I have no idea what program to get. Now, I'm in the process of doing a search for the program that would best suit my needs. I learn as I go. It's not always easy sledding for this old bird.
So, this will be my entry for today. I will try to get the first entry on tables ready and out soon.
I have a few hints for you, one that was passed on to me by my tech and a few I picked up in the worldsmart newsletter:
Another method to clean up some files from your computer: Go to start/search; enter "prefetch" without the quotes; click on it to open it; go to edit/select all and hit delete on your keyboard.
If you want to change your homepage, go to tools/internet options; in the homepage section enter the new name of the page you want and click apply.
If you ever need to scan your computer and can't rely on your anti-virus program for whatever reason, head to pcpitstop and you can do it there.
If you want to delete some favorites from your list, right click on it in the list and choose delete.
