Satin Ball Recipe

We're told that this is a great meal to feed for underweight dogs, a breakfast before a trial, ect.

NOTE:  These receipes are posted as an informational courtesy only.   We DO NOT attempt to recommend anyone use these recipes, they are for informational purposes only and you may use them, but at your own risk.  Please check with your veterinarian if your dog has any type of eating disorder or health problems!!!

~ 10 LB hambuger (high fat/cheapest)
~ 1 large box oatmeal (uncooked)
~ 10 eggs
~ 1 1/4 cup vegetable oil
~ pinch of salt
~ 1 1/4 cup unflavored molasses
~ 1 large box (2 LB) Total cereal (or something close)
~ 1 Jar wheat germ
~ 10 small packs unflavored gelatin

Mix all ingredients together well. Depending on size of dog you could make mini meatballs or small meatloafs. Freeze on cookie sheets, store on airtight bags. Thaw as needed.

Smaller recipe for meatballs (raw)

~ 6 LB hambuger
~ 1 regular box oatmeal
~ 1 regular box Total
~ 1 jar unsulfured molasses
~ 6 egg yolks
~ 5 cups Safflower oil (I have no idea why such a large amount of oil)
~ 4 packs unflavored gelatin
~ 2-3 Tablespoons garlic powder
~ 1 cup water

Mix all ingredients well. Form into small balls or size appropriate for your dog. Place on cookie sheet in freezer until frozen hard. Store in airtight bags.

1 more for the road

~ 10 LB hambuger or turkey or lamb, but beef probably has the higest fat content
~ 20 envelopes unflavored gelatin
~ 20 egg yolks (Cook up the whites and add some to each meal)
~ 2 - 12 oz. jars wheat germ
~ 2 regular boxes Total cereal (May also use 1 box total and about 4-6 cups cooked brown rice or oatmeal)
~ 2 cups molasses (blackstrap or plain)
~ 2 cups oil (safflower oil or cold pressed flax seed oil and safflower in equal amounts)
~ garlic or garlic extract

Optional: 2 large cartons cottage cheese or 2-5 cups peanut butter

Mix everything except meat. Then crumble meat into mixture and mix well. Make meatballs or mini loafs, freeze until solid. Store in airtight bags in freezer. Semi frozen makes a great treat in hot weather. Otherwise, thaw and mix with regular food.
