Family Hilary's family is very important to her. Her father, Bob Duff, owns a business in Houston, Texas, while her mother, Susan Duff, takes care of Hilary and her sister, Haylie Duff, in Los Angeles, California. Her father visits the girls about every three weeks. Haylie was the first to have the desire to act. Hilary didn't like it at first, but the more she watched her sister, the more she became interested. It was a rough start for both of the girls to break into acting, but it finally paid off when Hilary got the lead role in "Casper Meets Wendy". The film got Hilary noticed by casting directors and she was cast in a TV sitcom that got canceled quickly. Her mother encouraged her to keep trying and that was when she landed the lead part in "Lizzie McGuire", which launched her career into superstardom on the big screen and into the music studio. Haylie has been in many different made-for-TV movies and indepentant films. Just recently, she starred in the critically acclaimed movie, "Napoleon Dynamite". Haylie has been working on her own music album and it will be out in stores very soon. Haylie and Hilary have worked together a lot. Haylie guest starred in many "Lizzie McGuire" episodes as Kate Sanders Cousin, Amy. The sisters toured together during the summer of 2004. They sang the song, "Our Lips Are Sealed", together for the soundtrack of "A Cinderella Story" and also sang it on their tour.
