A Man Like You
Daniel Jeremy Perz

A man like you I had never known before
You were the first and only, I couldn’t have asked for more
You are the summation of all that is righteous
Oblivious to those who condemned us
Intent instead on the love and the passion
Yet, always in on the latest, best fashion
I’ll remember you as a man with great taste
Whose history of loneliness and abandonment couldn’t be erased
You came to me in time, wondrous and elate
Through my mind, your love seemed to resonate
Like the night of our first laid back date
To the morning you asked me to be your lifelong mate
The man of mystery you’ve been for so long
An enigma until I heard your true song
Then I knew we couldn’t be wrong
Then I knew that together we’d go on
I know you know I believe you’re the best
I truly am certain we’ll stand time’s test
I know you have known for many a year
That if we stick together we’ll have nothing to fear
Although my heart knows we belong as one
My mind still fears meeting the barrel of a gun
If all my fears come true
Then I know that we’d be through
Luckily, I have my faith that love will prevail
That we will continue on without fail
You’re such a wonderful man
Die with you also, I hope I can
The indescribable feeling that keeps us in synch
It bounds our love like a skater to his rink
This rink will never melt
As long as the love is still felt
