NIGHT AND PREY
DANIEL STEELBORNE

This dreariness has set over me,
Incapacitating me, rendering me blind
Unable to be set free
Unable to escape the bind
The darkness now does prevail
Causing the light to falter, then fail
In the distance I see the fog
And I can hear the wail
Of an abandoned dog
Oh so lonely,
Oh so sad
Entrapped, am I,
By the moon’s pale light
Once so bright
But now so frail
Rendering the night,
Ever more baleful
The shadows continuously mutating,
Endlessly frightening
The threat of death looms near
Thriving on the scent of fear
Who shall be next?
Who will be the next suffering victim?
Then there they are
So succulent and fresh
Tender white meat
Ready to be beat
And so jaw does greet
Their tender skin
And tears it to shreds
Once this I used to dread
But now my mouth erupts in a grin
