Another day, the same old song,
sang for a time long gone;
We sing the words again and again,
although them we do not comprehend,
Special are those words,
(that) we sing, us birds;
Waiting for our Master,
but in the end it does not matter,
For return he will not,
perhaps he has been shot;
We never found out,
and continued to fly about,
Waiting for someone who may never return,
we may never learn;
That we should have tried to have stopped,
and to the ground have dropped,
Dead, loss of life,
for our lives are filled with strife;
Eternally, endlessly lost,
o the huge cost!
The stars that shine, ever so bright,
O sleepless night.
Forever young,
unable to run;
From what it was that kept us from death,
of our Master, though, nothing was left,
If only, if only,
we could be;
Able to break free,
please, lost Master, give us the key!
Unable to live, unable to die,
our eyes pointed toward the sky;
Waiting for the one,
who will never come,
Helpless to the end,
never had a chance to spend;
Our existence for some good use,
instead to be squandered with our Master’s abuse,
No meaning, no point,
no Master to annoint;
Us with his well-being and love,
in the form of a pure white dove,
Master, bring us back to the light,
O sleepless night.
The wind blows through a tree,
the leaves wailing, we see;
A figure appears in the foliage,
directly above a nearby hedge,
Be it him, perhaps it is,
or maybe one of his kids?
The figure moves toward us,
and we are simply in a great fuss,
Fighting to be at the front,
the front-liners take the brunt;
Of a full-scale attack on our existence,
immediately it is met with resistance,
Live we can’t,
but die we shan’t;
Without seeing our Master one last time,
to live a while longer is not a crime,
We fought with all our might,
long into the darkest night;
Ever experienced by any in our group,
so continue we did our loop-to-loop,
Master, do not be in fright,
O sleepless night.
Fight we would for many a day,
violence would keep us at bay;
To these invaders from far away,
attempting to cause us great dismay,
How long will this terrible battle take?
To keep us alive and not burn at a stake?
Master, help us in our time of need,
and perhaps this once, we’ll succeed,
Follow you, we will do as you wish,
but please, us do not ditch;
We have waited so long,
if only you’d sing a new song,
For new generations,
and new aspirations;
But let us die,
too long we’ve lived this lie,
Be it heaven, be it hell,
just end this horrible spell;
You’ve cast on your friends, your followers,
forever and ever, hours and hours,
Images on a backdrop of white,
O sleepless night.
For our debt we have already payed,
and now it is you who must be saved;
Only when we die, will you become free,
try it, and you’ll see,
The guilt you sense will disappear,
immediately, you’ll feel freer;
To walk this planet,
and not be intimidated by it,
Do you hear us? Lonely Master?
Or even remember who we were?
Another verse, of the same old melody,
Nihil novi, nothing new, no remedy,
Everlasting in flight,
never an end in sight;
As it always has been the same,
that is the way it will remain,
Only one question in our pack,
why didn’t you ever come back?
Were you in fright,
that we may bight?
Death in our sight,
O sleepless night.
After leaving us alone for eternity,
that we may be just a little jittery?
And throw the first punch,
simply to hear the crunch?
Respond, we wish you would,
you know that you could;
And save yourself the pain,
of repeating that endless refrain,
We birds mayn’t know much,
but we know as such;
In the end you’ll never come,
we’ll continue, flying around some,
Master, Master,
lying dead after;
To us this has happened,
and all is done and said,
We know not if you’ll come along,
nor do we believe that you’re gone;
But we don’t have a choice,
and never will we rejoice,
All this time, you knew we were right,
O sleepless night.
Master enters the depths of death,
to us he has committed great theft,
Leaving us all by ourselves,
to bark out innocent yells
For our sleepless eternity,
amongst our fraternity,
We have lost,
to the one who’d always bossed
Us around even when we’d been good,
he hurt us, we never thought he would,
For ourselves, we never stood,
We didn’t even know we could
Trapped in time,
in the endless rhyme,
Of his song’s lyric,
it makes us all sick
But we don’t know any other way,
to speak the words we have to say,
Using his verses, to God we pray,
we’ve never been lead astray,
To say a word Master hadn’t spoken,
but if we did could the spell be broken?
It’s worth a try,
I don’t know why
Lead to death, I hope this might,
O sleepless night.
We hate you Master!
Never again will we say your words!
Never will we speak in your rhyme!
We are glad you are gone!
What’s this?
Am I dead?
No! I’m in heaven!
Look, it’s Master!
Wait! He’s happy!?
He’s actually glad we regained our free will!
We’ve learned our lesson,
And we now know the mistake we made...
We’ve been guided back to the light!
O sleepless, joyful night!
