Canis lupis(grey or timber wolf) or Canis rufus(red wolf)

The wolf is a wild and unique animal related to the jackal and domestic dog. There are two different species: the grey or timber wolf which is found in Alaska, Canada, northern Europe and northern Russia, and the red wolf which is found only in Texas and the southeastern United States. However there are many subspecies of the wolves. The grey wolf is 2 meters (6.5 ft) in length including the tail.They weigh usually 75 to 120 lbs but can weigh up to 80 kilograms (175 lb). Their life span is approximately 10 years. The fur of a grey wolf is red-yellow or grey-yellow with black patches on its back and sides and white patches on its belly and chest. There are also black and brown grey wolves and those far north can be pure white. The red wolf is darker and smaller. Wolves are social animals and they travel in packs. The head of the pack is called the alpha male and his mate is the alpha female.
