Gardener of the Month
I though that it might be nice if each month I invited an author whom I admire and respect to answer a few questions on your behalf. The purpose of this being to let them pass on their wisdom and experience to the rest of us.
Also to just plain get inside their head and find out what motivates them as a writer.
Hope you enjoy and if you have questions that you would like to be included at a later date than please feel free to
e-mail me with your suggestions.
To start off this little foray into the mind of a slash writer allow me to introduce my good friend and sometime collab writer; Cheeky Savage.
Name:
Cheeky Savage
Do you have a website?
Yeppers.

What initially attracted you to read slash?
I don't know really. I guess, deep down I always liked the thought of two guys together but didn't realise it until someone made me read a slash fic.
Can you remember the first story you ever read?
Oh god! Lemme think a bit. I think it might have been 'Just A Sip Of Wine'.
What prompted you to start writing slash yourself?
I don't know really. I guess just natural progression. After reading a lot of them, I guess I just decided that it was time to have a go myself.
Which of the stories you have written is your favourite and why?
Ummm…probably 'The First Night' because it seemed to get the biggest reaction.
Describe what genre your stories generally fall into?
(ie, angst/humorous/deathfic/first time etc)
Ummm…I tend to go more for the humorous stuff and of course the sappy romance :)
From what point of view do you usually approach your stories?
(ie, first person, third person, third person omnipresent.)
Ummm…depends on my mood really. I think it's usually first person but sometimes I do change to third.
What advice would you give to anyone just starting out in the genre?
Write what *you* want to read. Don't care what everyone else wants.
Any potential pitfalls to try and avoid?
Not that I can think of.
What do you think it is about slash that makes it attract such a huge following?
Maybe because it's pretty much a taboo subject.
Many thanks to Cheeky for taking the time to answer all my questions. BSHs on the way to you my dear. J
Another gardener next month.
