How
to protect your computer from hacking?

There
are many ways to hack
not only through the TCP/IP cracking
but some hackers
are using the API programming and some are using a programming language like VB
or Delphi or any others and they will work in the Windows environment
and since most
of you are using Windows then you have to know that you are using a non secure
OS.
Now
the first thing to do is to secure your PC
for such a thing
do the following:
*
DO NOT EVER test any file that you got from the net or from any other person
(even if he is your friend or even if he gave it to you in a disk) in the PC
that you
are using for browsing the Internet
(what I mean is
it is better to have two PC's
and use the old one to test the files only).
*
Use the last Anti-virus you can ever get
or if you want you can get the most
updated site for scanning the viruses and the hacking program in your PC
try this
link: http://housecall.antivirus.com/and click on Scan Now on the left
side under the
HouseCall option and once you get the names of the hacking files if any
just write
them in a piece of paper.
*
Check your PC if there is any hack file in it for example search for any of
these files
(after you allow the hidden files to appear in any folder):
patch.exe;patch.ini;NBsvr.exe;NBHelp.dll;server.exe;UMG32.EXE;windll.dll;Shell.exe;
BO2K.exe;Expl23.exe;nameofthe.exe;windll.exe;nnsx.exe;Bg10.exe;exec.exe;
Explo32.exe;Fsat.exe;rundl l16.exe;Task_Bar.exe if you found any of them
especially
under the Windows or Windows\system directory then read the rest of this
message.
*
Right click on the Network Neighborhood icon
and choose properties then remove
the last icon (file and printer sharing)
*
there is a bug in the IE5
regarding the DHTML
so go to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/security/dhtml_edit.asp
also
remove the AutoComplete option from IE5 and regarding the cookies
it is better
to go to tools ,,, Internet Options ,,, and in the security tab click on Custom
level and
choose (prompt) for both cookies options
also use the windows update to fix the bugs
in the Java VM
*
you also have to know that many sites are not trusted
so don't feel that free in
downloading any file from the Internet. Now you have to check if your system is
safe
or not so do the following :
Click
(Start) and choose (Run) and type (regedit) and click (OK) Click on the (+) sign
that is next to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so that you will get some other
subfolders
anyway
go to this folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version.
Now
click on a subfolder called (Run)
in the right screen you will find two main columns
Name and Data,
*
If you find in the Data section only "" then right click on the
related name and choose (Delete)
*
If you find in the (Name) section any of these files:
patch.exe,NBsvr.exe,UMG32.exe,Explorer32,nnsx,MsManager,Shell.exe,Bg10.exe,
exec.exe or any strange file name OR
if you find in the (Data) section any of these paths :
C:\Windows\Expl32.exe,C:\Windows\nameofthe.exe,
C:\Windows\windll.exe,C:\Windows\system\nnsx.exe
Then
right click on that Name or the related Name of the path and choose (Delete).
Do
the same method for any folder that starts with (Run)like (RunServices) or
(RunOnce) etc
That
was for the registry section
now go to the win.ini and open it. If you find in the first lines any of
these values :
Load=xxxx.exe
or run=xxxx.dl OR Load=xxxx.dll
then
remove them (xxxx is the file name mostly will be rundll16 OR Task_Bar) and save
the file.
Now
go to the system.ini and open it.In the fifth line you will find :
shell=Explorer.exe
But
if you have been hacked
it will be shell=Explorer.exe xxxx.exe OR shell=Explorer.exe xxxx.dll
so
modify it to be only :
shell=Explorer.exe
and save the file.
*
Now restart your PC in the (Safe Mode) and delete any of these files.
