U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701 D (Galaxy Class)
The fifth Federation starship to bear the name. The Enterprise-D was launched 2363 from Starfleet's Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards orbiting Mars, and was under command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard from 2364 until it's destruction 2371 on Veridian III. (Except for a brief time during the year 2369 when it was commandeed by Captain Edward Jelico.)

The Enterprise - D was 641 meters in overall length.
