The evil Dr. Soren, determined to regain entry into a timeless place called "The Nexus", takes the Enterprise crew on another adventure. This time, the going gets very rough for both ship and crew. The film begins with a snippet of Captain Kirk dying in the line of duty. The audience knows this isn't true and Kirk later joins with Picard to save the day.
