Dash Rendar:

          A Corellian theif and smuggler about Han Solo's age. He is the skilled pilot of the Outrider. Dash had been delivering a shipment of food to the Rebellion on Hoth just as the Empire invaded. He took action by flying a snowspeeder and bringing down an AT-AT.
          Dash comes from a well respected and wealthy family. Just one yuear after Han Solo enrolled at the Imperial Academy, Rendar joined him. Dash's older brother, a frieghter pilot, tried to work his way up through their families shipping company but died when he and his crew crashed into the Emperor's private museum on Imperial Center. Outraged, Palpatine expelled Dash from the Academy and siezed his families property. They were left with nothing.
          Later Dash was hired by Princess Leia Organa to protect Luke Skywalker who was in danger of assassination. He then involved himself in a battle against a ship that was carrying the plans for the second Death Star. The armed ship fired a missile towards Blue Squadron, an Alliance Bothan flight, which Dash thought he could lock on. He was wrong. The missile destroyed Blue Squadron along with twelve Bothans. Luke sent Dash to Rodia inform Leia of what had happened and of the information they had retrieved.
          Dash discovered the head of the Black Sun organization, Prince Xizor, was holding Leia prisoner. He recruited Vidkun, an engineer who knew the underground pipes and sewers of Prince Xizor's castle very well, to help him out but Vidkun shot Dash in betrayal wounding him. Dash quickly fired back hitting him between the eyes.
          After rescuing Leia Dash and company escaped on the Millennium Falcon at which time Dash transferred to the Outrider, which was being flown by his trusty droid co-pilot, Leebo. At that time a space battle erupted between Xizor's fighters, who were firing at the Rebels, and Darth Vader's fighters, who were firing at Xizor's fighters. Rogue Squadron then joined the firefight. As the fight continued, Dash and the Outrider flew into debris as Xizor's orbital skyhook exploded but he survived.
