Mara Jade:

          Mara Jade was the Emperors hand who had a blood oath to kill Luke Skywalker. Mara is now a close friend of Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, and Skywalker as well as the Alliance.
          As the Emperor's Hand she would go to great extents to do what the Emperor ordered her. She had the ability to travel anywhere in the galaxy. The Emperor kept her a secret and not even his closest aids new about her. After Darth Vader urged Skywalker to join him in ruling the Empire, Emperor Palpatine ordered Mara to kill Luke. She tracked him to Jabba's Palace and went undercover under the name of Arica. She eventually failed in killing him and Luke along with the Rebellion destroyed the second Death Star along with Palpatine. She felt guilty knowing that if she had killed Luke the Emperor would still be alive. She vowed to carry out the Emperor's last command.
          Now that the Emperor was dead she needed a new job. She eventually became the secon-in-command for the smuggler Talon Karrde. Later she had an encounter with Luke but instead of killing him she saved his life, something they would do on and off. Mara and Karrde got involved in the battle between Grand Admiral Thrawn and the New Republic. Mara fulfilled the Emperor's last command in a strange wau when she killed Luuke a clone developed by the crazy Jedi clone C'boath. She felt free of any vows to the Emperor.
          Years later she would help Karrde from the guild, the Smuggler's Alliance, and would support the New Republic. Later Karrde gave her temporary control of the guild. When Luke developed his Jedi Academy Mara joined but left to continue running the guild. She also aided in defending the constant attacks by Admiral Daala. She also aided Han Solo and Lando Calrissian and for a while romantically involved with Calrissian. Later, Solo had requested the aid of Karrde and Mara. He asked if they could locate and bring several force bending ysalamiri to the planet Almania. Solo used this to help Luke defeat Dark Jedi Kueller.
