Mon Mothma:

          A senator from the planet Chandrila. Se is the leader of the Rebel Alliance as well as the founder and first Chief of State of the New Republic.
          Her father was an arbiter-guard for the Old Republic and her mother was a planetary governor. They taught her respect, administrtion, organization and leadership. Until Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, she was youngest to serve in the Republic Senate. Mothma was the last to hold the title of Senior Senator.
          She and Corellian Senator G. Bel Ibis attempted to stop Palpatine's election as Senate leader, but failed. After her involvement with the rebellion was discovered, Bail Organa of Alderaan gave her a tip that allowed her to escape Imperial secret police.
          She then attended a secret meeting in the Corellian System where she, Bel Ibis and Organa formed a unified leadership under the Corellian Treaty. Mon Mothma then drafted the Declaration of Rebellion where she directly attacked the Emperor and his policies. After the Battle of Endor she set out to build a New Republic. She would send ambassadors to planets to see if they would join. Many did but other waited.
          She established the headquarters in Coruscant. There they approved plans for a Jedi training facility established by Luke Skywalker. At a diplomatic reception Ambassador Furgan of Carida denounced the New Republic and threw a drink in Mothma's face. Weeks later her health began to deteriorate. She spent four secret days in a bacta chamber to no effect. The disease was claiming her life.
          The disease forced her to resign and hand over her duties to Princess Leia Organa. At this time it was found that the disease was related to the drink Furgan had thrown on her face. In a desperate attemp Cilghal, a Jedi student with Force healing ability was summoned. With time he expelled the disease from her body. Even though she had fully recovered she continued to support Leia as the new Chief of State.
          After some problems arose involving Leia and her husband Han Solo, Mothma resumed her position as Chief of State. When the problem was resolved, Mothma gladly returned to Leia her position as Chief of State.
