Making it's mark in history

To many Star Wars is just a film. There are many who would argue that it's not even a film at all. But that goes the same for The Titanic. I really did not like the film and thought that is was boring (except for the ship breaking in half, that was cool). There are anti-star wars sites out there on the net and people who just plain trash the film and the people who like it. One group of people that I don't mind who argue about Star Wars are the Trekkies. Hey, they can do it because us Star Warriors do the same. Me and a friend of mine used to argue about which was better. What ships would destroy what. We could go for hours just talking about it but it was friendly arguments. We were friends and we knew how far to take it.
It's not that people don't like the film and the people who watch it, it's that the film has impacted many and has changed their life. Grant you I don't go to work dressed like Luke Skywalker like some Trekkies, but it has made me view films in a different way. Now when I see a film I have this habit of comparing it to Star Wars. I don't think that any other film has given me the anticipation that this film has.

When I saw the teaser trailer for Attack of the Clones a couple of days ago I got very excited. I could not wait for the film to be released. In my mind I was hoping it was May already. I watched it over and over. I did have a little trouble downloading but none the less I got it. It's this type of anticipation that makes a film historical. When The Phantom Menace was first released people were flocking to the Meet Joe Black film just to see the trailer and then leave. People were missing work just to see the film. My cousin saw A New Hope several times in theaters. Many people saw the film several times in theaters when it was first released in 1977. Several years from now, maybe in 2500 a.d., people are still going to remember the Star Wars films. Today not to many people remember the films that were released in 1950 or even 1970. They didn't have the impact that Star Wars did. Your children's children will remember this film. Why? Because of the fans. How many fansites have you seen for Citizen Cane. It's a good film and it revolutionized the film industry but does it have the fan base to keep it alive for several years to come. There are people today who have never even heard of the film.
Even collectors of Star Wars will keep the franchise going. All the figures and comics will keep Star Wars in people's minds. Toys will spark interest in a child's mind. Maybe even the parent will join in. Gaming systems will spread the word.
-"What game is that?"
-"Star Wars."
-"It looks like a movie."
-"It is a movie."
You see where I'm going with this. It doesn't matter where you look Star Wars is there. It's in movies, music, books, and life. Star Wars has impacted all types of people and will continue to impact for as long as people will remember it.
