I don’t own anything…

Desert Wolf: Visited …very messed up and twisted…but most excellent! Love the anti-PETA jokes…I don’t advertise in my fics but I will say a few words about the comic in my bio…No prob on the embarrassing me thing again…don’t let it happen again!

Flambeau Willow: Thanks for the advice. I am putting less emphasis on the villains…or villain, Fujimaro, and making them just a tad stupid.  Since Naraku is dead, I don’t have to bother with all the angsty stuff that I hate to write…although what I plan on putting Sess and Kag through is pretty emotionally charged…I’ve gotten myself in pretty deep with the whole Fujimaro thing…am not sure if it was the right thing to do…there is a light at the end of the tunnel though…

Suki- Thanks

Emerald dragon hanyou- it’s a tail in this fic…and thanks…

BC- Thanks

The solution to Fujimaro…He is gonna be the main villain…the other Lords are merely curious about Kagome’s powers…

This chapter, as you already know, is going to be a flashback of sorts on Kagome’s part…she is remembering when her power’s really manifested themselves…On with the chap…

Chapter 9

The Dojo…

Sesshoumaru sat in the middle of the dojo floor, legs crossed in a meditative state.  The Demon Lord was deep within the reaches of his mind, purging all useless thoughts.  Again and again, the image of Kagome came to Sesshoumaru’s inner vision.  She was always looking at him with an infinitely sad expression set on her lovely features.  Sesshoumaru grunted out of his peaceful state.  ‘When has the Miko become ‘lovely’’ Standing Sesshoumaru strode over to where various swords lay on the wall.  Choosing a katana, Sesshoumaru started into one of the katas he used most in battle.  Dipping as to avoid an invisible enemy, the Demon Lord soon was wrapped into his poetic movements.  Surprisingly unnoticed was the figure of a woman, slowing becoming enraptured with Sesshoumaru’s deadly grace.

Kagome watched in awe as Sesshoumaru moved like a dancer, cutting the air like melted butter.  Sesshoumaru finally sensed her presence and abruptly the show was ended.  The Demon Lord sheathed his katana and walked over to Kagome.  The Miko felt a slight twinge of fear in her stomach as Sesshoumaru led her to the gardens.  Sesshoumaru and Kagome sat down on a bench in the middle of the four gardens.  “What is it that you want to talk about, Miko-san?” the Demon Lord inquired.  Kagome sighed, “First, I want to apologize for striking you with my arrow and for going off on you in your study, Sesshoumaru-san.”

Sesshoumaru gave a curt nod.  Kagome continued, “I have to talk to you about a dream I had last night.”  Sesshoumaru’s eyebrow quirked up, “A dream, Miko? Do you need comforting?”  Kagome rolled her eyes at the Demon Lord’s sarcasm.  “It was more of a vision, Sesshoumaru-san. The priestess Kikyo visited me and warned me of an impending danger.”

Sesshoumaru’s expression remained emotionless but inside he was intrigued.  ‘Danger? So soon after that hanyou, Naraku, was vanquished?’ Sesshoumaru pondered silently, unawares that he had grasped both of Kagome’s hands in his.  “Miko, tell me how your powers were made known to you.” The Demon Lord inquired of Kagome.  The Miko’s mouth pursed in concentration, “My powers…they manifested when I first came to the Sengoku Jidai…”

Sesshoumaru’s eyes widened a little in surprise, “You are not of this era, Miko-san?”  Kagome nodded.  “I was pulled into the Bone Eater’s Well by a centipede demon and soon met up with Inuyasha. As time progressed, my skills improved but still I was untrained as a Miko. We had many confrontations with Naraku and his ‘children’ over the next four years.  It was on a fall morning that we would have the final battle with Naraku.” Kagome paused to take a breath.  “We came to a clearing not far from where I first arrived here.

The air was thick with miasma and soon there was Naraku’s laughter, floating around our heads and driving the hairs on the back of my neck to rise. We had no plan so Inuyasha whipped out Tetsusaiga and braced for attack. Naraku sent out his hordes of demons at first, but Inuyasha made neat work of them. Finally, Kagura, Kanna and Kohaku stepped out to fight.

A more ferocious battle ensued. After hours of fighting, Kagura and Kanna were finally destroyed. Kohaku was battling for control in a losing fight with his sister, Sango. Naraku finally made his grand entrance. He had the almost complete Shikon no Tama in his hands.  Inuyasha rushed head long into the fight, but was blasted back by Naraku.  Sango had finally overcome Kohaku and with the help of Miroku, launched an assault on Naraku.  In the midst of the battle, I had been comforting Shippo. I looked up to see my friends facing the battle and something gave way inside and I grabbed my bow and arrow. I felt strangely confident that day so I strung an arrow, unwittingly summoning up enough magic to slay five Naraku’s. I drew back my arrow and aimed for Naraku’s exposed neck.

My arrow let loose with a vibrant pink glow. The arrow found its mark and soon Naraku began to disintegrate. The hanyou howled in pain and utter shock, not quick enough to escape the impact. Soon, Naraku was no more. I walked over piles and piles of dead demons and searched for the jewel. I found it. It was so tainted and so filled with malice that at first, it was painful to pick up. But then, I started to purify its tainted spirit.  Combining the remaining jewel shards, I did not notice Kikyo walk onto the battlefield.  She headed straight for Inuyasha, who was nursing his wounds.  I looked up and was thrown off by the look of pure anguish on my companions’ faces.  I looked to where Inuyasha and Kikyo stood talking.

Inuyasha nodded his head to Kikyo.  I was devastated. I started over to stop Inuyasha from fulfilling his unintentional promise to the dead Miko. Kikyo looked my way and gave me a look that said ‘he’s mine, you no good look-alike. I stopped in shock as the ground opened up and…” With that, Kagome’s face fell and tears began to trickle down her face.  Sesshoumaru’s eyes darkened and he was caught up in what to do with the crying Miko.  Sesshoumaru tipped Kagome’s face up to look at his.  “Miko, please no more tears on his behalf. Tell me of after Inuyasha’s idiotic promise.” Kagome dried her tears and continued, “After that, I went to the well and tried to go home. It wouldn’t work and I finally understood the well’s magic. Even though I had the jewel, the well didn’t respond to it. It was my bond with Inuyasha that allowed my presence in the past. I couldn’t go home, after all that, I couldn’t go home. I managed to exist after that and I trained under Kaede to be a Miko. And here I am, Sesshoumaru-san.”  With that, Kagome withdrew her hands from Sesshoumaru’s and went back to the castle.  The Demon Lord sat and contemplated his next move, ‘She has such strength. A human should not have that kind of willpower. I have much to consider.’  Sesshoumaru went back in.  In the shadows, Fujimaro’s spy ran off to report this new development to his master.  Truly, this opened up more possibilities for the Eastern Lord…

That’s it! I am done with Chapter 9! There it is…more info about Kagome’s powers…
