Chapter 13
Fujimaro’s throne room…
The cat demon took his seat just as the doors swung open to reveal his ‘guests’. Fujimaro smiled evil, “Welcome, Lord Sesshoumaru. Welcome, Miko-sama.” Kagome inwardly cringed at the cat demon’s falseness. And to confirm her earlier suspicions, Fujimaro’s eyes rested on the Shikon No Tama. Sesshoumaru sent a low warning growl to the Miko beside him. Sesshoumaru bowed quickly, not wanting to cast suspicion. Kagome nodded curtly and both Demon and Miko kneeled at the table, laden with food. The cat demon sashayed down and knelt down across the table from the pair. The meal started off without a hitch and soon, all were full. The conversation though had turned increasingly sour.
“Why did you summon us here, Fujimaro-san?” Kagome asked, smiling coldly. “Why, to test your abilities at their fullest, Miko-san,” the cat demon purred; almost ready to pounce on Kagome. Kagome let loose her tongue, “So your desire for the jewel has nothing to do with this?” Fujimaro’s smile waned, “I…I have no desire for the je…jewel.” “Then, why are your eyes glowing with fervor when you look at the Shikon No Tama,” Kagome stated, “I know that look, having seen it on countless demons.” The cat demon tried to rein in his fury, “Sesshoumaru-sama, I suggest you control your pet.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes narrowed dangerously, “My pet? I rather recall a certain someone telling me those lies you had spread.” Kagome smile turned lethal as the cat burst out of the bag (pun intended). Fujimaro leapt up and snarled, “You have known this whole time!”
With a feral yowl, the cat demon summoned his elite guard. Sesshoumaru smirked and withdrew Toukijin. Kagome went to prepare for battle when Sesshoumaru bit out, “Stay back, Kagome.” The Miko looked at Sesshoumaru in surprise. Fujimaro slinked away as his guards rushed at the Demon Lord. Before they could even draw their weapons, the guards lay dead. Sesshoumaru flicked the blood off his sword and went off to hunt the coward, Fujimaro.
Kagome meanwhile set up a shield and started to chant off a protection shield for Sesshoumaru… which he rejected. Kagome bit back a chuckle. But the smile died quickly when a breeze brought in a certain miasma. Kagome gasped, “Naraku!” How…how had that bastard survived? “KuKuKu…my, my, my what have we here?” Naraku’s voice floated in. Kagome’s face was twisted in fury, “How! How did you survive?” Naraku appeared in his favorite form, that of a handsome prince. “It was all thanks to you, koi. After all, you let Kikyo win. By dragging Inuyasha to hell, I could ensnare his soul and live again.” Kagome turned white as a ghost. “You…bastard!!!” Now, Kagome could not fight, for in Naraku, lay her first love’s soul. Kagome fell down on her knees, tears running down her cheeks. “I shall finally have you, Kikyo,” Naraku purred. Lifting Kagome off the ground, Naraku carried her bridal style and started for the door.
Suddenly, in a flurry of white youki, Sesshoumaru re-entered, having defeated Fujimaro. Naraku turned, “Ah…Sesshoumaru…” The Demon Lord’s eyes had a trace of red in them, “Naraku, release the Miko.” Naraku laughed evilly, “What makes you think I am at your beck and call!” Sesshoumaru leapt at the hanyou but then, Tenseiga pulsed. Sesshoumaru took out the magical sword and leapt up and behind Naraku and sliced down the hanyou’s back. Tenseiga released Naraku’s presence forever from the earth, but left instead…Inuyasha’s body. Sesshoumaru picked up Kagome’s unconscious body and looked down at his half-brother’s body. Sighing, Sesshoumaru lifted up Inuyasha’s body and proceeded to lift off the ground, his cloud of youki swirling white…and blue…the color of sadness.
’ Inuyasha is back a bit early…don’t flame me! There has to be a sequel, ne? I will write an epilogue for this fic and start on the sequel very soon…
