JUNIOR TEAM
CLUB HISTORY 1993 TO DATE
1993/94
The junior sides got off the ground with a friendly for the then Under 14`s at Stanway which was lost 6-4 on 2nd October 1993. Many friendlies were played by the side which saw two crushing wins over Chelmsford 12-1 and then 9-0 and Becki Knight hit 11 in a 24-2 win over Wivenhoe. The first game I saw was at home to Harlow Eagles a match in which we led 6-0 and when one of the visiting girls got injured her mother went onto the pitch and then took their team off and the match was then abandoned.
Soon after this the Ormiston League was formed and the club had a superb time winning the league and the Cup day. The best league success was to come at home to Tiptree Minors who we beat 27-0 with Becki Knight hitting 16, still a club record for one match. At the same time there was an Under 12`s league where we finished second in the league of only three teams.
1994/95
The season saw the teams now become the Under 15`s and Under 13`s, the former did really well but were pipped for the league title by Sole Bay Herons from Southwold in Suffolk but we surprised them in the away league match as with a stand in keeper, Jessie Norton, we gained a superb 5-2 win with her making several notable saves. However defeat in the cup semi final against Ten-17 Eagles completed the season of near misses.
The same fate looked to be on the cards for the Under 13`s as they had to settle for the runners up spot in the league to Wivenhoe and then trailed 2-0 to them in the league cup final. However in the fading light they pulled off a notable success as they hit back to finally win the tie 3-2 after extra time.
During this year a new Under 11`s side was set up with manager Ian Craig in charge. In that first season they were invincible continually win their matches by double figures.
1995/96
The now Under 12`s continued the following season in the same form but missed out in crucial matches to be runners up in both the league and the GER Cup. However their games still featured some amazing scorelines as they lost the crucial early season game 12-8 at champions Ten-17 Eagles and after slipping up at home 10-10 to Langford they then went and won the return match away 21-1.
1996/97
This season saw the Under 13`s side slip up twice in the league losing 9-6 at home to Ipswich Town and then surprisingly 7-6 at Brentwood Ursuline, a first ever defeat to that club in the thirteenth meeting. However the latter result was then remedied as the team got ample revenge by winning the return game 21-0 at home.
Despite being pipped to the league title by Ipswich Town, they gained success by beating them on aggregate in the GER Cup semi final and then beating Haverhill Rovers 13-0 in a one sided final. Throughout this time the team was served well by keeper Jenna French, captain Jo Sibley, Kate Weston and prolific goalscorer Lauren Richardson who now had hit well over 150 career goals and tended to average about six every game.
In 1995/96 the team were good but were strengthened for 1996/97 due to the change in the age limits by some players from the previous year`s disbanded Under 14`s side including two who had been with the side for a while, Toni-Anne Wayne and Natalie Porter. Unfortunately as the team often won games at ease they sometimes suffered due to their overconfidence.
However in a game at the start of 1996/97 they did create a new club record as they beat Burnham Ramblers 30-2. A side was entered into a tournament involving twelve sides and due to the efforts of manager Ian Craig, the team of Helen Wright (a keeper who was to concede only one goal), Natalie Shaw, Nikki Goldsmith, Shelley Hewitt, Libby Knifton (2 goals), Sam Allday (7 goals) and Sian Daly (6 goals) won their group with 4 wins and a draw, then the semi final and eventually the final 2-1 against Burnham Ramblers.
The Under 14`s achieved runners spot in the league for 1995/96 but lost in the GER Cup Semi Final. That side due to the age limit changes meant only three girls remained and the actual league did not take place in 1996/97. However a new Under 11`s league started and the team performed as well as could be expected but did achieve a notable 22-0 win over Wivenhoe.
Two managers Martin Manning and Bob Higgs shared the role and they saw their daughters playing prominently in the side.Whilst a player of note and leading scorer was Vicky Ward who in a schools tournament hit 13 of her side`s 16 goals, captained her side from the Mildene School, Tiptree as they won the trophy.
1997/98
In this season the club did not have a junior club.
1998/99
Now they did run an Under 12`s in this season. The team finished third in the qualifying Northern Division to then go into the A group section after winning four and losing two of the games. These results included a 24-0 win over Stanway.
The team beat Chelmsford City 7-1 in the league cup and reached the semi final of the competition. With the merged Northern and Southern section of teams, the side despite a lot of effort found the going tough only winning one of their games, but several of the matches saw some very close results with games decided in the last few minutes of games.
In the semi final of the league cup they trailed Aveley 6-1 but a strong fight back saw the game eventually lost 6-4. The fight to be leading goalscorer was close as Sian Daly hit 25, Libby Knifton 24 and Natalie Moodie 23.
1999/2000
For this season the team started well with a very good 15-0 win at Sudbury but with weakened sides they saw two very surprised home defeats. A good performance at Brentwood saw the team share four goals before a trip to Billericay saw the biggest win of the season by a massive 18-1. Burnham were hit for eleven, but three hard games followed but despite good performances three defeats. The last one saw a great effort at Leyton Orient with a stand in keeper and a narrow but exciting 7-6 defeat.
The return match with Sudbury again saw 14 goals scored before Ipswich Town were met for the second time. A good show but with a stand in keeper again, a brave attempt but another defeat. Two home games saw crushing wins over Billericay in the league 14-1 and Burnham Ramblers in the league cup 13-2. Then against Brentwood at home we outplayed them for two thirds of the game to lead 4-1 but then let it slip as the game was lost.
However a trip to Chelmsford remedied this but again they let go a 2-0 half time lead by conceding a couple of quick goals. The team responded in grand style to turn in an excellent display as they ran out 7-2 winners. The team travelled to play Burnham Ramblers and won 9-2 then they faced Leyton Orient in the League Cup semi final down in Brentwood. The team played very well to clinch a place in the final by winning 2-1.
After losing their last league game at Perry Street 7-6 they unfortunately lost the final against Ipswich Town 5-1. Hanna Harding and Sian Daly both scored over 30 goals with two others Natalie Moodie and Chloe Jameson netting about 20 each. Two members of the team whose fathers are in the army deserve a special mention. One being Sian Daly, the team`s captain and Kelly John who has represented the Colchester Football in the Community side in a tournament in London.
2000/2001
For the new season the club were pleased to have two sides once more with Ian Craig assisted by Ian John running the Under 14`s and former Wivenhoe manager Kim Farmer running the Under 12`s.
The older squad playing in the Northern section had a comfortable passage into the next phase of the league with wins over Chelmsford City 6-0 away, AFC Sudbury 4-1 at home, a 1-1 at home to Ipswich Town and a narrow defeat 4-3 at home to Colchester United FITC. However the game that finally clinched their spot was the 3-0 win at Haverhill Rovers.
Unfortunately this is where the season`s success finished. Despite several creditable displays the team`s confidence was knocked as in the A section seven of the ten games were lost. The only wins were a double over Sawbo, the home game was conceded to us and a 4-3 win away. The only other victory was 4-2 away against Brentwood Town, in a match switched to Colchester. A heavy 7-0 friendly defeat against the strong American side Montclair United side capped a poor end to the season. The leading scorer was Hanna Harding who scored 15 times.
The newly formed Under 12`s squad started disastrously losing their first three games and in the bargain let in 46 goals and scored only 3 times. Things had to improve and we only lost 4-0 at AFC Sudbury. Two weeks later and we had our first win a 10-2 win over Priory Rangers. Needless to say we failed to qualify for the A section but this setback allowed the team to compete against clubs of about the same ability. After this initial win, the team then won its next six league and friendly matches. The stumbling block was AFC Sudbury who we met in February. With the snow swept from the pitch we were soundly beaten 8-3. After we thrashed Brentwood Town 17-3 at home, this team like their elders were soundly beaten by Montclair United in a friendly.
Back to league action we travelled to AFC Sudbury believing we had to win to net the B section title but we narrowly lost 3-2. However we finished the season in style with three more wins. The last match saw us go to Chelmsford City knowing we could still net the runners up spot with a narrow defeat, but a massive half time lead to us averted that probability. An amazing first year in the league with the overall record showing, 11 wins and 7 defeats but no draws in league and friendly action. The goal tally showed 122 for and 96 against, an incredible average of 12 every match. The leading scorers were Rachel Larcom 58, Becky Lawton 30 and Caroline Wright 20.
Due to the atrocious wet weather, the programme of league matches got well behind schedule and the league cup had to be cancelled.
2001/2002
The new season saw the Under 15`s start with a friendly win over AFC Sudbury and a trip to France where the team were boosted by a few extra players and a tournament was won. When the league season began we won 5-1 at Chelmsford City which a great success for the squad who were a player short for the whole match. Going into the match with Colchester United FITC confidence was high but again we failed to produce the goods against our bogey team and we lost once again. Spirits were not improved despite a better display against West Ham United but again we tasted defeat this time 7-3. After Waltham Abbey had conceded the league encounter to us we hastily arranged a friendly against Hawkwell Athletic Under 14`s and morale sunk to an all time low as we were soundly thrashed by a good team. So in three matches, all at home, we had scored 5 goals and let in 21.
When we travelled to Basildon to face Forest Glade, preparations for the match were not the best as people got lost on the way. However the home team`s problems were worse than ours as they were more players short than us. After a slow start we eventually found the target just before the break. You had to feel sorry for the home side, but our team just needed a game like that to get their confidence back as we won 14-0 and that how it turned out to be. For the next four months we played ten games and won all bar one that being a narrow defeat at West Ham, a result that imminently cost us the runners up spot in the league title race.
To recap our success from that day in November when the fortunes of the team rose again, we beat Stanford 15-0 at home. Our closest contest of the season followed as we just about beat a gallant home side, AFC Sudbury, with a stunning goal in injury time from Sian Daly. Puma 2000 were the next to suffer as we had an incredible start to the match with several goals in the first few minutes, the final count reached 17-0. Chelmsford City gave us a few problems, and we were a slight touch fortunate to win 5-3. After the setback against the Hammers it was more success as new manager Ian John capped his first match in charge with a 8-0 league cup win over Stanford Wanderers.
Two home games against Forest Glade were conceded to us as they gave the points to us in the home league encounter and the home league cup match. Sandwiched between these two matches we went to Stanford and won 11-0 and missed loads more chances to add to the tally. Now into mid March the team encountered early struggles at home to AFC Sudbury before Chloe Jameson coming on as a substitute inspired her side to a 6-0 win.
The following week the team continued their excellent season with their eleventh win in twelve matches as they played their first ever match against Waltham Abbey. A trip down the A12 and M25 saw them return with a 7-1 victory. The team warmed up for their league cup semi final with a friendly at home to Ipswich Town Under 14`s but the injury hit side lost to a late goal.
However the following weeks things did improve as they beat AFC Sudbury 4-0 in the league cup semi final. This was followed by a 13-0 win at Puma 2000 but a 5-1 defeat at Colchester United FITC. Final preparations for the league cup final saw the squad travel to Ipswich Town for a friendly where the team won 2-0.However an early injury to Kelly John in the league cup final at Maldon was to unsettle the side as they trailed West Ham United 3-0 at the break, however the team fought back superbly after the break, hitting the woodwork on several occasions, but could only pull back one goal through Julia Edmondson.
Sian Daly led the scoring charts for the season with 30 goals, followed by Chloe Jameson 28 and Emma Robson on 23
After their topsy turvey season last time out the now Under 13`s have had a few more downs than ups. Bad weather and postponments have not helped their cause with three matches being conceded (two for and one against). The season began well with Chelmsford City beaten 5-4 in the Colchester Invitation Trophy. Travel problems disrupted the performance as we lost 3-1 at Stalham in a friendly. A visit to Brentwood Town got the league action off to a great start as we won 10-2 and then the club`s first and only to date win at Junior level over Colchester United FITC. Well we did not really beat them as they had to concede the game as they did not have enough registered players for the match. However we played a friendly with them and lost 7-1.
A trip to Leyton Orient, the potential champions, did not go too well as we lost 12-0. So a return visit to London the following week was not welcomed against the equally strong West Ham United side. Our fears were unfounded as we so nearly won but we just failed to hang on and eventually lost 6-4. A league success was gained over Valley Green at home. This proved to be an amusing encounter as both teams had on green shirts. We remedied the situation by wearing ours inside out and this meant we were actually playing in white. Two friendlies were arranged against Focus at home and Oyster away and this allowed us to blood some youngseters from the Soccer School. Wins over both were inspired by the young talents of Fiona Wynne, Chelsea Hewitt, Jessica Herbert and Sian Williams.
The season then took a turn for the worse as we lost our next six matches played. The only success came in December when Brentwood Town conceded the match to us. After a three week break a much improved display saw the team go to Valley Green in Witham and came out on top 7-2 in the league cup encounter. It was very encouraging display by the team played in atrocious windy conditions. For the proposed match at home to AFC Sudbury the following week, unfortunately a flu bug in our camp caused us to concede the match to our opponents.
A young squad travelled for the club`s first ever meeting with Saffron Walden and after a close first half, enjoyed a successful second period as Rachel Larcon hit another seven goals in a 10-2 win. The meeting against Leyton Orient proved to a difficult task in the league cup semi final, but the girls gave a spirited display before losing 9-2.
Back in the league action an exciting match saw them entertain Redbridge Raiders and despite Becky Lawton`s hat trick the side went down 6-3. However the following week she was to star again as this time she hit four as the team recorded the first ever playing success over Colchester United FITC at junior level. It was a magnificent display as the team won 8-1 and to the bargain they missed a penalty as well. The season finished disappointingly in the league as the team lost their final match at home to Hawkwell Athletic 5-2. The last match of the season saw another trip to Saffron Walden with a complete reversal of fortunes in the friendly. A slightly younger squad this time lost 8-2. However it was a memorable match for Rachel Larcom who netted both and thereby has now hit over one hundred goals for the club.
The scoring stakes for the season were led by Rachel Larcom 43, Kayleigh Lyness 22 and Becky Lawton 20.
2002/03
For the current season the club were running three junior sides and were operating their Soccer Centre who were also
featuring in some games. The older group the Under 16`s are now being called the Colchester Ladies Under 16`s under the
management of Ian John. The season began with a friendly visit to Ipswich where against a strong home side we lost lost
5-2. However the league season started well as Chelmsford were beaten away in the first match 5-2, despite the scores
being tied up at 2-2 at the interval. With the side now contesting 11 a side games additional players have been added
to the squad, which saw Natalie Yarwood returning after a couple of years break. Sam Hurr and Nicole Chater joined from
Wivenhoe and Kelly Shaw came from Chelmsford City. October continued to go well as the first home league games saw Hawkwell
Athletic beaten 4-2 and Leyton Orient 3-1. The arrival of Aabybro from Denmark was the next challenge, in a match contested
by a younger squad, this did pose too many problems as we won 7-1, with Nicole Chater scoring her first two goals for the
club. When Sian Daly scored her second of the game, it was her 100th goal for the club. The winning run continued as they deserved won 6-0 away at AFC Sudbury.
The first league defeat comes at West Ham United where the team are second best in most departments as they lose 3-1. After a
week`s break and with the match at Leyton Orient cancelled due to their cup commitments, a home friendly was played against the
Hoddesdon Owls Under 17`s. This proved to be a confidence boosting performance by the squad as they won 8-1. Back in league action the
team got off to a great start, opening the scoring at home to Chelmsford City in less than a minute. By the break a 5-0 lead was gained
and there was no let up after it as a further five came in a 10-0 win, which included a goal for Kelly Shaw on her debut. For the beginning
of 2003 the girls take on the parents in a fund raising match but lose 7-4. This was followed by another loss as the side were beaten at home in a
friendly by St Margaretsbury 3-1. Despite the setback of losing both Sian Daly and Sam Hurr, injured in a nasty collision,
the team gained an excellent 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United. On a very heavy pitch a poor result as we can only draw 2-2 at Leyton Orient. A close
fought match saw the team lose to a solitary Ipswich goal at home. A friendly match was arranged away at Chelmsford against their Under 17`s side and an electrifying
start sees three goals come in the first nine minutes of the game as Nicole Chater scores twice in the 4-0 win. Another friendly meeting with Chelmsford sees
their Under 16`s beaten 6-1. Ipswich Town almost seal the league title as they beat us 4-1. A thrilling encounter see the team beat Maldon Town 5-2 with first
goals by newcomers Ashley Gooding and Leanne Cox. Over Easter the squad travelled down to Wales, losing 3-0 at Neath and 2-1 at Margam but beat Llanelli Reds 1-0.
In a thrilling final match of the season the team beat Llanelli Reds 3-1 at home.
The early weeks of the season were very frustating for the Under 13`s as by the middle of October they had only played
one league game which despite leading 5-3 at Chelmsford City, they lost 8-5. With the squad remaining at the Under 13`s
level, several of the older girls left the squad, but some good replacements have been found. Without fixtures a whole series
of friendly matches were arranged. Against a lot older Focus Ferrers away a good 4-4 draw was gained. In the mini tournament
at Chelmsford, the team lost 4-0 to the touring Aabybro side but beat the hosts 8-1. A trip to Wickford Town saw the girls finding
their shooting boots as they won 18-0. Most of the scoring came in the spell just before the break and the second half when
sixteen of the goals came, Kayleigh Lyness netted seven and Rachel Larcom six. The local rivalry with Colchester United was once
more put to the test but despite an excellent first half, the side faded after the break before losing 8-3. A long trip to Harlow
saw the first ever meeting with Roydon Royals but although a lot of chances were created a 6-4 defeat was suffered on a very heavy pitch
despite three from Kayleigh Lyness and another from Rachel Larcom. A superb day in late November saw the team beat Silver End 25-0 with
Rachel Larcom netting ten times to advance to second place in the club`s junior goalscoring records. She scored another but missed a penalty in
the 10-1 defeat at Colchester United FITC. Into 2003 the team begin with a home friendly against Chelmsford City and snatch a 6-5 victory with a last
minute winner from Rachel Larcom. On a cold and frosty morning, the remaining snow was cleared from the field but the team lost the friendly at home to
Buckhurst Hill 7-3. After this setback the team responded with an excellent display in the league at home to Chelmsford City as we won 9-4. It was one of
the squad`s best ever performances and included an absolute screamer from Rachel Larcom which almost took the net down. The team travel to face a strong
Ipswich Town side and take a surprise 2-0 lead but despite a heroic display they finally lose 4-3, star player was Rachel Larcom who scores a great goal from 25 yards
and another from a corner kick. However two weeks later, despite encouraging starts to each half by us, Town win 6-0. Back to winning ways as Galleywood are played in
a friendly match, Rachel Larcom nets seven and Kayleigh Lyness six but very pleasing were the first ever goals for Michelle Crossley and Kirstie Partridge. Despite
creating good chances the team lost out in a well contested match to Roydon Royals 3-2. Despite not being at their best the team win 9-0 at Silver End, with Rachel Larcom
adding four more goals to her tally. Despite player shortage the team battle for a 2-2 away at Waveney Herons, Jo Carter nets her debut goal. Despite a great start at home
to Waveney a 2-0 lead is lost as the Herons hit back to win 7-4. Despite leading 3-0 the team had to settle for a 3-3 at home to Llanelli Reds, the game saw Rachel Larcom
net her 150th goal for the club.
A new group of girls joined the league action as they progressed up from the Soccer School under the management of Sioux Worsfold.
Unfortunately things have not gone too well for the Under 11`s so far as heavy defeats arose in the first three games, Colchester United FITC 12-0,
Maldon Town 20-0 and Chelmsford City 21-0. After a long break the next match went a lot better but still saw a 5-0 defeat away at Rayne Cygnets but at least
the team did create several very good chances. A lot of effort again at home to Mark Hall Youth but another defeat, and no goals, as the team lose 4-0.
A wet morning in Woodham did not change the team`s fortunes as they lost 2-0 to the Cougars. An excellent display by the girls, especially by
Chelsey Hewitt and Sarah Monroe as they held Chelmsford to only a 6-0 defeat. Another brave display away to Colchester United FITC on a wet morning and
despite Laura Worsfold`s shot going close a 15-0 defeat. At last the elusive first goal arrives as Danielle Harvey nets twice in a 3-2 friendly win over
Silver End. League leaders Maldon Town are in town and beat us 12-0 despite another star display by keeper Amy Worsfold. Success at last as the team grab
their first league point with a 0-0 draw at home to Focus Ferrers Cougars. Building on this the team record their first league goals of the season as they
lose 8-5 at home to Rayne Cygnets, with DAnielle Harvey netting a hat trick. Despite a thunderbolt strike by Laura Worsfold there is a 6-1 loss away at Silver End.
Despite losing 6-2 at Waveney Herons, keeper Amy Worsfold nets a remarkable goal for her side. At last the team wins their first league match of the season in their 13th game
as Silver End are beaten by a solitary goal from Jessica Herbert. A long trip to Mark Hall Youth sees the team lose 6-0. The team were supplemented by members of the Under 10`s
squad but it was always an uphill battle as they lost to the older Llanelli Girls 17-0. A close friendly match saw the team lose 3-1 at home to Waveney Girls,
The soccer school also began to find their feet. A five a side tournament was contested at Brentwood before a visit was
made to Saffron Walden. Supplemented by players from the Under 11`s, a 4-1 loss was suffered, but a first ever goal for
the girls came from a long way out by Laura Worsfold. The following week saw a visit to Maldon where two mini games were
played and after a 3-0 loss, a first success as Bethany Davison scored the only goal of the game. The squad competed in a five
a side tournament in Colchester on Saturday 14th December and put up a good show and then again in the February Focus
seven-aside tournament, winning one and drawing two of the five matches. The first match in the league was in early March
and the side started with a 5-0 win over Chelmsford City as Sharn Smith (3) and Georgia Egner (2) were on target. Another good display
but the team slip to a 5-3 defeat despite another great display by player of the match Georgia Egner who hits two more goals. Another
good result as a 1-0 last minute winner comes from Beth Davison in the home win over Hambros Colts. The team plays in the Maldon Tournament
and win two, draw two and only lose to Maldon with three goals from Sharn Smith and two by Georia Egner in the competition. Another excellent
performance but the team are denied by a late equaliser at Maldon Town. The success continues as Georgia Egner and Beth Davison strike after
the latter had seen her penalty saved in the 2-1 victory at Wickford Town. The Under 10`s wound up their friendly league fixtures with a 3-1 home defeat to
Writtle Minors. However a game was arranged for early June and two early goals by Sharn Smith was the difference as the team beat Waveney Girls in a
friendly match.
2003/04
The Under 14`s began with two away matches with contrasting results, a six goal half time deficit at Maldon Town did not bode well
for the season despite retrieving it back a bit to 6-2. However what a performance the following week as Rachel Larcom netted
seven times at Roydon Royals in the 8-2 win. A friendly saw an amazing performance by Rachel Larcom who hit 12 in the home
win against Silver End, there were also first club goals for Zoe Scott and Kayleigh Kilbey as the team win 16-1. A rare win
was recorded over Colchester United FITC as a half time deficit of 2-1 was turned into a 6-2 victory. The team slipped to a
surprising home defeat as eight player Roydon Royals went away with a 4-3 victory. The team are back to winning ways as the match
against Silver End is switched to Colchester with Rachel Larcom so close now to the club`s junior scoring record, with eight more in the
14-0 win. The record goes as Rachel Larcom passes Lauren Richardson`s tally of 185 junior goals but despite all four the team after leading
4-3 lose 8-4 away at Colchester United FITC. A similar scoreline as the team again lose 6-2 at Maldon Town. A great result as Rachel Larcom nets
a hat trick in the 4-0 win at Roydon Royals but she goes one better with four in the 8-0 win at Silver End. However the departure of Rachel Larcom
to Maldon Town sees the team lack the goal power as they slip to a heavy 10-0 home defeat to Chelmsford City. With the squad numbers now diminished the team
has to withdraw from the league, but the girls continue to train with the Seniors and are involved in their friendly matches.
More woes for the Under 12`s as they start with two heavy defeats, three guests players net all the goals in the 13-3 home
defeat to Colchester United FITC, and Focus Ferrers Pumas also net the same as the team lose 13-0 at home. Another defeat
as the side lost 9-1 at bottom of the table Stortford Jets, with a goal from Jody Padmore. A very encouraging display
saw a narrow defeat at home to Rayne Cygnets, as Danielle Harvey`s shot was diverted by a defender into the net in a 2-1 loss.
Success at last for the team as Danielle Harvey scores again in the 1-1 draw with Focus Ferrers Cougars in a match switched to Colchester.
A brave display by the girls at Mark Hall saw the home side`s two player advantage to much to overcome as they fell to a 11-0 defeat.
Two late goals sees a 1-1 home draw against Hedingham Hawks. A first ever goal for Fran Oldacre as the girls lose 19-1 at home to Chelmsford City
and then the local derby with United iare beaten 10-0. Despite a good display at Focus Ferrers Pumas the team lose 8-0. Two good performances follow
but end in a 3-1 home defeat to Stortford Jets and a 4-1 set back at Rayne Cygnets. After the 18-0 mauling at Maldon Town, the girls responded
fantasticly and are a little unlucky to lose 4-3 at home to Mark Hall. At last the girls record a much deserved first win on the season as Danielle Harvey
and Charleigh Scanlon net the goals in the 2-0 win at Hedingham Hawks. At home to Maldon Town, the girls, as expected, are well beaten 9-1 but show their
mettle in difficult conditions to rally to grab a superb 3-2 win at Focus Cougars. A poor display in the league cup as the team lose 14-1 at home to Focus Pumas.
The season`s final game saw a heavy 20-0 defeat at Chelmsford City.
The first action for the Under 11`s came in mid July 2003 when a close friendly encounter saw Regent Park beaten 2-0
with a goal on her debut for Kristy Kehoe. The first league match saw further triumph as Georgia Egner scored both in a
2-0 win over Cougars from Harlow, however the real star was keeper Sharn Smith. More success follows as Georgia Egner nets
the solitary goal at Regent Park before a first league defeat see the girls lose 2-0 at Brentwood Town. Another good win
for the side as the faithful seven played again in the 2-0 success over Silver End with a first goal for Lauren Lambourne.
Despite a great display by keeper Sharn Smith the team slips to a surprise 2-0 at Maldon Town. Despite Kristy Kehoe`s long range
shot the team lose 3-1 at Buckhurst Hill. A quick return visit saw the sides draw 1-1 a week later. Despite another starring role
by keeper Sharn Smith, Billie Randle`s first league goal for the squad is matched as Brentwood Town score late in the game. Georgia
Egner nets both the goals as a 1-0 deficit is turned into a 2-1 win at home to Regent Park Rangers. A close match sees the youngsters
narrowly lose 2-1 at home to Maldon Town then 2-0 at Cougars. Despite drawing 2-2 at half time, the team suffered a heavy 7-2 defeat at
Buckhurst Hill. The side show great fight but lose 3-1 at home to Brentwood, despite a fine goal by Billie Randle but bounce back with
a 2-0 friendly win at Writtle Minors. Another success as a fine 4-0 win is recorded over a brave Silver End side. There is a dip in the
results as successive defeats are recorded 3-0 at Maldon Town and 1-0 at home to Cougars. Then disapppointing scorelines with Silver End
2-2 away and a 3-1 setback at Regent Park. A mixed squad take part in successive days of action, three win and two draws are recorded in
the Writtle Seven-asides and St Mary`s are faced in a friendly and Kelly McWilliams nets four times in an easy 8-1 win. An early exit in
the league cup as a 2-0 home defeat is recorded against Regent Park. With the regular season at an end a few friendlies took with the first
drawn 3-3 at Hambro Colts. Experientally games on a larger pitch saw a heavy defeat against the older Rayne Cygnets Under 12`s side 8-3 but
Georgia Egner netted four times as we beat Chelmsford City 9-2, this came a day after the team then a mixed day at the Maldon Town Seven a
side tournament.
The Under 10`s get started with a good effort in the Writtle 7 asides and record a fine 2-0 success at Chelmsford City
in a friendly. More action sees a spirited display but a 1-0 setback at Writtle Minors. Several matches take place without
real success despite a lot of enthusiasm. There is 1-0 defeat at Writtle Minors, followed by a 2-2 draw at Chelmsford City as
a two goal lead is lost. Two more games see a 4-1 home defeat to a strong Assandun Vikings side and 1-0 loss at Hambro Colts.
A brave display by the girls as boosted by Georgia Egner and Sharn Smith the team narrowly lose 1-0 at home to Wickford Town
in a friendly. A first real success for the squad as one day they win every match at the Maldon Town seven a side tournament
and then the next day beat Chelmsford City 6-0 with a hat trick for Leanne Mills and two by Roxanne Gardner.
2004/05
A reformed Under 14`s saw the Under 15`s and Under 13`s merge forces and they did well to only lose 8-5 to Brentwood Town in their first match, and
Harriet Young had a memorable game as she netted a hat trick. Then followed this up with a 0-0 draw at Assandun Vikings. An amazing next game saw the
new squad win 28-3 at Wilburn Wanderers (who were two players short) and Callie King hit ten, with Harriet Young, Fiona Wynne and Danielle Harvey all
netting five a piece. After a three week break the girls led local rival Colchester United but end up losing 14-1. A trip to league leaders Dunton
Dynamos was a daunting prospect and the girls lost out 15-0. A sea saw match sees the team lose 7-5 at Stortford Jets. An excellent win at Witham saw Callie
King hit six goals in the 10-4 win. A tough match and a long trip down the A12 sees a 5-0 defeat at Buckhurst Hill. Despite a great goal by Fiona Wynne the
team`s first home match for nearly three months saw them lose 7-1 to Curio. After a 3-2 defeat at Brentwood, the girls dominate in the home encounter with Assandun
Vikings but lose 1-0. Into 2005 good displays but two defeats as the girls played well in both. A battling show at home to Redbridge Raiders, but despite two from
Callie King and a crossbar struck by Harriet Young we lose 5-3. The latter fired in a fierce free kick to give us the lead over Colchester United but we eventually
lose out 8-2. Two more big defeats follow as we get the expected big defeat against Dunton Dynamos but we did score in the 14-1 loss, then surprising lose heavily 9-1
at home to Stortford Jets. Then a match of the league`a bottom sides see us beat Witham Town 5-1 with two goals for Charlotte Dutton. The following week we do so well
despite losing 4-0 to Buckhurst Hill. Four players are missing and we play throughout one player short,
with Harriet Young in goal. A goal conceded at home to Brentwood Town in the first minute was not the best start in the 4-2 home defeat in the league cup group match.
Then two bigger league cup group defeats 6-0 at home to Curio and the expected 11-0 setback at Dunton Dynamos.
The Under 12`s warmed up for the season with a thrilling 6-5 friendly win at home over Elmwood Colts, Rebekah Hicks scoring three and Georgia Egner two
and as fate would have it they met again in the league at Southend, this time losing 3-1. Then in their first home match
they were well beaten by Wickford Town 5-0. After the Assandun Vikings game was called off, a trip to Catholic United saw a heavy 7-1 defeat. An even contest
as we draw 2-2 at Regent Park. A first win of the season as Georgia Egner secures the 3-2 win at Clacton Town. A marvellous encounter saw the girls trail 3-0
at Silver End, recover very well to tie it up at 3-3 and then 4-4, but they eventually lost out 5-4 to a late goal. The expected defeat at Rockets at the girls
battle well in the 6-0 defeat. A good display at Chelmsford City as the teams drew 1-1. Another super recovery as we pull back a two goal half time deficit to
draw 2-2 at home with Elmwood Colts. Another goal for Georgia Egner in the 4-1 defeat at Wickford Lions. A superb display saw fourth place Assandun Vikings beaten
2-1 but this is followed by the expected heavy home defeat to Catholic United 7-0. A see saw match sees the team hold off the fightback from Regent Park as Emma Snook
nets a hat trick in the 6-3 home win. The first match in 2005 saw a 2-0 lead established at home to Clacton Town but the team then did well to hold on for a 3-3 draw.
This was followed by a much better display at home to Silver End, three times the team trailed but three times came back to score and eventually drew 3-3. The expected
defeat followed up home to Rockets as we lost 6-0. However this was followed by a splendid win as Rebekah Hick nets a hat trick in the 7-3 win over Chelmsford City.
Braving the strong wintry winds a 1-0 half time lead is turned into a 9-0 win at Footwork Sovereign, as Georgia Egner nets a hat trick. Despite taking the lead the first
group match saw a 9-2 defeat at Rockets. Then an amazing display as Rebekah Hicks net a five minute first half hat trick in the 6-2 win at Silver End, however the team are
then brought back to earth in the next league cup encounter as they lose 5-1 at home to Brentwood Town.
Elmwood Colts were the first opponents for the Under 10`s with Georgia Egner netting the goal in a 3-1 defeat.
They followed up with a 3-0 defeat to Chelmsford City, both games being played at home. A great result at Writtle
Minors where Rachel Dunlop in only her second game, netted a hat trick in the 6-1 win. Double defeat in Chelmsford as
the Under 10`s lose 5-2 with both goals coming from Flo Daldry, she then goes in goal and we lose 5-1. A Saturday venture
sees two wins and two defeats in a tournament at Maldon Town. Another hat trick for Rachel Dunlop this time in the 3-0
win at Footwork Sovereign. A visit to the Chelmsford mini tournament did go too well as there was a 0-0 draw with Focus and
defeats to Chelmsford City 3-0 and Footwork Sovereign 1-0. An excellent all round display sees the girls beat Focus Ferrers
5-0 at home with a first ever goal for Amy Plummer. An Under 11`s team lost heavily 8-3 in the Saturday match at Chelmsford
City. More success sees Rachel Dunlop net five times in the 7-0 win at Elmwood Colts and then struggle to match Writtle Minors
but still come out 4-0 winners. The roles are reversed as they dominate at Maldon Town but lose out 3-0 to a strong home team.
Two squads from the club compete at the end of January in the Ormiston 3 aside tournament. Two squads also go to Footwork
Sovereign and both win 4-0, with the club`s keeper (on as a outfield player) scoring for the second day running. A comfortable
4-0 at Wilburn Wanderers, is followed by an entry in the Writtle seven-asides and a disappointing 2-2 draw at Footwork Sovereign.
