Playing Dark Side Characters

Star Wars is a game for heroes and evil characters are strongly discouraged even though West End Games has now expanded its horizons to incorporate Imperial or Fringe characters. Players who wish to play patently evil characters should be reminded that "the Dark Side takes more than it gives"!

Normally, when a player character (player characters only) gains a Dark Side point, the player rolls a D6 and if he rolls under the total number of Dark Side points he has, he becomes a gamemaster character. As an option, if the GM wishes to allow "evil" player characters, the following changes can be made.

A character who gains a Dark Side point and then rolls under his total number of Dark Side points IMMEDIATELY loses one Force Point! If the character has no Force Points, he loses three character points. If he does not have three character points, he loses one pip from his highest Force Power. If the character does not have Force Powers, he loses one pip from his highest attribute and all associated skills. These losses are PERMANENT but may be replaced. ie through character point expenditure, gaining a Force Point for a noble act, etc.

This roll is made each time the character gains a Dark Side point. The character may always attempt to atone and remove Dark Side points as normal.
