St. David's Art Show 2009
Sixteen contributors made the first-ever St. David's Art Show a fascinating look into the minds and talents of some members of this small, otherwise reserved Episcopal church in its modest home nestled amongst the quiet side-streets of Cranston RI. A wine and cheese reception was the perfect venue for the dozens of exhibits on display, whose content, both old and new, spanned a wide variety of media, styles and tastes. Here are but a few examples, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
Photographer Lois Bogda combined her naturalistic images with elegaic reflections of poets.
Fred Jaggi's working models of orbiting celestial bodies are driven by multiple hand-carved gears fashioned by the artist himself. The rotation of each miniature planet corresponds with the rotational motion of the actual planet it represents.
These reproductions of classic furniture crafted by Bob Brown are made to an exacting 1/12 scale.
