How to connect to the Pokémon Crater chat without using www.PokemonCrater.com

There are a few ways to connect to the PokemonCrater chat without going to the website.

Here is a list of some:

Lucidchat's Java Applet

The first way is by using the applet on Lucidchat's website. This is the easiest way to connect to the Pokemon Crater chat on the list. To connect using the applet on Lucidchat's site, follow the directions below.

  1. Go to LucidChat's Java Applet
  2. A window will pop up that will look similar to the Chat window on www.PokemonCrater.com. Enter in your nickname and your password if needed.
  3. Click "Enter" and you'll connect shortly!

mIRC

The second way is by using a program called mIRC. Although this way may be confusing, it is in my opinion, the best way overall to connect. Steps 13-21 are technically optional but I strongly recommend doing them if you're just starting out with mIRC. They are a couple steps that really help in the beginning. To connect using mIRC, follow the directions below.

  1. Click here. When a window pops up, select "Run".
  2. After it is done downloading, another window will pop up. Select "Run" again.

  8. Make sure that mIRC will install into your desired folder and select "Next".

  10. You want to download the full version, so make sure that Full is selected and continue on by clicking "Next".

  12. Nothing that important here. Click "Next".

  14. Make sure that both of the selections are checked, and hit "Next".

  16. Ready to install! Click "Install".

  17. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

  18. After waiting for it to install, check the box that says "Run mIRC" and click "Finish".

  20. Here is mIRC! You'll see a small window with the mIRC icon. It has "Register" and "Continue" in it. You don't really have to register mIRC if you don't want to, so don't worry. It's free. Click "Continue" to.... continue.

  22. Another window will pop up called "mIRC Options". In this window, you'll have to fill out a few things. I filled it out with some information I would put in if I were filling out this information.

For your Full Name, Just make anything up. It doesn't have to be your full name.

For Email Address, again, just make something up. It doesn't have to be your real email address.

For Nickname, you put your main nickname.

For Alternative, you put an alternative nickname that you use.

When you've filled it out, look on the left at the list. You'll see that "Connect" is selected. That is what you are in right now. You need to click the "Servers" category under "Connect".

  24. After you click "Servers", a bunch of networks and servers will show up. Double click "EFnet" so that it closes and looks like the picture below. Then, click "Add" on the right.

  26. Here is where you add in the server that the Pokemon Crater channels are on.

    Under Description put in LucidChat.

Under IRC Server, put in the actual server address. In this case, it is irc.lucidchat.net

Leave the categories Ports, Group, and Password alone.

    Finally, click "Add".

  28. You will now see at the bottom of the list of networks you saw earlier, "LucidChat". Make sure it is highlighted and click "Select" over on the right.

  30. As shown with the orange arrow, LudidChat now shows up next to "Server". Ignore the blue arrow.

Now, look back on the left and click the plus sign next to "IRC". A few other categories should come up under it. Click "Messages"

  32. After you click "Messages", check the box next to "Timestamp Events:". Inside of the area next to it, you should see [hh:mm] or something similar. Erase that, and put in [h:nn:ss TT] as shown in the picture. This is a very basic Timestamp. After you do this, click "OK".

  34. This step is helpful if you want to automatically join a set of channels when you connect to LucidChat. In the picture you will see an orange arrow pointing what looks like a piece of paper with a # sign. Click that.

  35. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

  36. A window will pop up. If you look on the right of it, you will see a few buttons. Click "Add".

  37. Image and video hosting by TinyPic

  38. Another window will pop up.

In the Channel box, put in the name of the channel you want to automatically join. unless you own the channel, leave Password blank. Also leave Description blank.

Check the box under Options that says "Join on connect". Then, click "OK".

  40. If you look back at the picture in step 18, there is also a blue arrow pointing to an icon that looks like a piece of parchment with a green circle. It is called the Scripts Editor. Click that.

After you click it, the Scripts Editor will open. Make sure that you select the Aliases tab. If you look in the picture, I wrote "f1 /nick Incorrect". This means that when I click the f1 key, mirc will automatically type out "/nick Incorrect" for me. This is one of the many shortcuts Scripts can have.

I also put in a fake password with "/ns identify password". You can add whatever you want here. I only added this so that it would be very simple for you to switch to your nickname and then quickly identify to it by clicking only two keys on your keyboard.

    When you're finished, click "OK".

  42. If you look at the orange arrow in the next picture, it's pointed at what looks like a little lightning bolt. This is the button you click to finally connect to the network. If you added a few channels to the "Join on Connect" list a couple of steps earlier, you should automatically join them when you connect to LucidChat.

Other Applets

The last way just includes using other applets. The only one I'm going to discuss is the one on www.IrcAtWork.com.

  1. Click www.IrcAtWork.com
  2. Enter in your nickname, the network, and the channel you want to join just like it's shown in the picture. Click "Login" and you're done!

I hope this helps you. Good luck!
