As A young Boy, Dan (b. 1958 in Sacramento, CA.), contemplated on a Russell painting, of three cowboys roping a bear, which hung over his grandfather's dresser. This painting entertained him, as did the westerns on T.V. he held so dear. This painting inspired artwork as volume laden as the limited edition prints of today's markets. Pencil, pen, paint, and crayons were all explored in recreating this enthralling image. This early fascination with this image instilled a desire to create such images, that others would find just as intriguing. Always encourged by family, friends and mentors (as indeed they own many St. Duran works) he never steered from the artist's hand. Garnishing awards in grade and high school, he worked as a sign designer and painter, framer, graphic artist, store display designer, and is a published cartoonist. St. Duran pursued another dream and became a stuntman/actor in motion pictures and Television. St. Duran's credits include: Rescue Me, Pink Cadillac, Dead Pool, Young Riders, Bonanza Next Generation, Ishi, and more. He produces and performs in live stunt shows and cowboy entertainment shows. In the off times of these endeavors he countinues his commitment to fine art and creating images that he hopes will intrigue, as he was intrigued by that Russell painting above his grandfather's dresser. |
