High School

Summary: Written for Writing Class...I think it was suppose to be irony.

Laura glanced down the long hallway for what could be the last time. Her senior year had come and gone. She was remembering middle school and all of her expectations of high school.

She had just known that she would come back from spring break and suddenly be popular among her peers. Laura had pictured herself surrounded by hundreds of people just waiting to see what she had to say. She also pictured the parties she would attend. She could not wait to get out on the dance floor and start dancing with every cute guy in sight. Laura had truly believed that come ninth grade she would be a different person and everyone was bound to like her.  No guy would be able to resist her this year. A boyfriend was definitely on her top ten list. She had her eyes set on David Anderson for the past three years. She was going to let him know about her feeling for him this year.

However, that is not what happened. Instead of her classmates rushing up to greet her, they flew by her to Diana, the popular girl back in middle school. Laura's face had fallen and she had slipped off to her locker. Another disappointment that year was the fact that she was never invited to any of the parties.  She was also dismayed to find out there would be no prom. Come to find out Christian school's do not believe in dancing.  David Anderson ended up dating Diana for the next three years only to break up with her a few months before graduation. He had barely paid any attention to her. Laura had remained dateless throughout high school, having to watch all of her peers going out and having fun.

Laura gave a big sigh as she walked out of that building for the last time. She was depressed. High school had not been much fun. As she was walking down the street to her car David pulled up next to her. Her eyebrows rose in surprise. She stared at him for a few minutes before his words actually registered in her mind. He was asking her out? After all this time? Maybe high school is not when life gets good. She smiled as she hopped into his car.
