SPECIAL THANKS
A production like this requires total authenticity. In order to achieve this realism, the producers were able to beg, borrow and STEEL (pardon the pun) many set pieces, from a variety of businesses and organizations. We would like to thank them for their ongoing support of the performing arts.

In 1999, Kathryn Boshan and Laura Halley established Kataura Productions. Their original venture was the creation of a television sit-com for development. "Here We Are" is a unique and hilarious comedy based on the real life friendship, and inane life situations of the tow women who created it. The plan is to shoot the pilot in the summer of 2002.
Just over eight years ago, the original
Stell Magnolias was beginning to take shape. Venturing into the auditions together, Kathryn and Laura's landing of the roled of Annelle and Shelby allowed them to begin to share with each other their passion for theatre. Since then, each has gone on to perform and work in both local community theatres as well as on professional films and stage productions. Last summer, Kathryn and Laura were brought back together on stage in a performance of Laundry & Bourbon.
Kataura's directorial debut came last winter when they brought to the Toronto Stage a production of the pantomime Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf. They have since created a children's drama program, which is currently running a theatre camp with the Town of Aurora. The program will become a year-round venture, expanding to provide courses for adults as well as teens and children.
This experience is especially poignant in that it is allowing Kathryn and Laura to realize a long-standing desire to re-mount such a fabulous show. They would like to thank the extremely talented cast and crew of
Steel Magnolias for putting their trust and tireless efforts into this production.
Kathryn and Laura would also like to take this opportunity to especially thank all of their invaluable friends, family and colleagues who have supported them and helped them along the way. They feel it is important that they show their appreciation now as 30 seconds isn't much time when accepting an Oscar and anyone who knows them, knows that in their feverish excitement, they will most likely forget!

CAST BIOS

Wendy McCall...has been actively involved in community theatre for 13 years, with the Newmarket Theatre Centre, Old Town Hall Players, South Shore Theatre and the Newmarket Stage Company. Directing credits include The Audition is Over, Run for Your Wife, On Golden Pond, and Brighton Beach Memoirs. She also assisted in directing The Shadow Walkers. Wendy also teaches Children's Introduction to Theatre and Kinder Theatre programs for the Town of Newmarket. Wendy is very excited to be once again joining this very talented cast of friends.

Kathryn Boshan...is delighted to be returning to the stage to revive the character if Annelle. Her previous credits include La Marquise de Merteuiel in Les Liasons Dangereuses, Hattie in Laundry and Bourbon, and Jane in Who Under Where?. She recently acted in the independent film Sitting Duck. Kathryn is most excited...and boastful...to be able to portray a 19 year old this far along in her graying existence. She would like to thank the cast and crew for creating such wonderful memories which will live in her heart forever.

Laura Halley...had her first theatrical experience with the Charlotte Repertory Theatre in North Carolina. She has gone on to appear in such roles as May in the Affections of May, Elaine is Nightwatch, Gillian in Bell, Book & Candle and Lynne in Stepping Out. She is especially proud to be reprising the role of Shelby and to have the opportunity to work again with the best ensemble with whom she has ever had the privilege to share the stage.
