BANK ROLLING THE BBC

For those of you who thought this organisation was about providing entertainment etc. think again. Here you will learn about it's income, why it likes the status quo and the bias it demonstrates in some of its current affairs programmes, especially when it comes to the, "European Community". It regularly puts 'soft' interviewers up against government ministers.

The Income of the BBC

The so called T.V. licence fee is nothing of the sort. It's a lifetime tax on owning a television to provide a steady income to fund the lavish lifestyle of BBC executives and programme presenters. This method of funding, like all state schemes funding nationalised industries, encourages mediocrity, self congratulation and institutionalised paternalism. It puts an organisation in hoc to the government of the day and is used by government to subtlely influence the sub-conscious thinking of an organisation.

The BBC has tried of late to emulate the successful format of the American networks, especially with it's expensive and audience lacking 24hr news programme, (well do you know anyone who watches it). This channel was criticised recently by a house of commons committee for being lavish with the spending and short on appeal.

Funnily enough for an organisation so enamoured of this archaic mode of funding it's the underdog who is least able to afford it. The majority of individuals hounded through the courts for not having a T.V. tax licence are single women with children living in the poorer areas of our towns and cities.

Not only does this clog up the courts so that real criminals can't be dealt with, it alienates the very people the courts should be cultivating, to support community initiatives and support the police.

Quite rightly independent broadcasters have campaigned for years against the nationalised BBC and how it can rely on this steady flow of income to support its operations irrespective of public appeal.

The television tax was recently increased yet again to support the BBC in its efforts to begin digital broadcasting while the independent companies had to dig into their own pockets for the cash.

Abolishing the television tax would immediately make the BBC accountable to those it serves, the public. It would end the sickening nepotism and intellectual elitism permeating the organisation and free the courts of this country to pursue criminals instead of people who refuse to line the pockets of BBC presenters and commentators.

Currently we pay £109 per year in television tax, (licence fee), thats £9-08 per month. Looked at like that when a minority of people in the country who watch BBC, except for the odd soap when they switch back to their usual channel, either ITV or the local cable or sky network, on the basis of the monthly contribution it looks very expensive. Next year the TV TAX rises to £112-00 a year or £9-33 per month.

Can you avoid contributing to the BBC coffers? yes you can. A television licence is not needed if someone in your house is over 75 years old, put the licence in their name. If you are having repairs done on your house and the television is not used!!! make sure you claim the refund due, you can claim a refund if the television is out of action due to building work for 3 months, or if you are on holiday for 3 months.

Remember all this waffle they put out about we know you haven't got a licence is just that. Its meant to intimidate you. The way it works is like this.

They assume that every household in the country has a television, every address is available on a computer programme, even you can buy one, all they do then is match the addresses with those on its computer who have a licence.

The system likes stability, they dont like addresses that change tenants regularly, such as inner city addresses, student accomodation etc. They don't have the manpower or resources to check these types of addresses.

Ensure any work you are having done on the property comes at the end of the licence period when the TV will be out of action, that way you don't have to renew it. When the silly letter from TV licensing arrives asking why you have not renewed or renewed at a different date, just write back and tell them the truth, the TV was disconnected. Remember in this country, (unlike the continent), your innocent until proven guilty.

What happens if the man knocks on the door, well don't let him in, you don't have to. Don't under any circumstances show them your TV unless they produce a search warrant, and don't admit to having it on. Remember they can't enter your home without a search warrant. Once again let them do all the work, make life as awkward as you can for them.

At the end of the day your paying them but you have no control or say in what comes onto your screen or whether you want the service. As usual with this Blair government they know whats best for you. Don't let them get away with it!!

BBC question Time

Remember the objectionable question time programme a few weeks ago after those vile people committed the acts of terrorism in the USA and the pinko BBC invited the American Ambassador onto the programme. There was no attempt at balance, (although they say there was), the Ambassador was vilified by the audience, most of the press and public thought it was disgusting. The BSC, (Broadcasting Standards Council) now thinks there is no need to take the matter further.
Doesn't surprise us, after all they aren't accountable to us the customers are they, we are just footing the bill.
Over 200 people complained about this programme, can you imagine the outcry if someone had made a comment about race or some other politically correct hogwash and half a dozen pinko dipsticks complained.
