North American Free Trade Association
The name says it all, FREE TRADE, thats what its about. The Euro trade bloc, by contrast, is a customs union. Its designed to keep goods OUT and put a damper on competition and trade from anywhere outside the E.U.
America would like the United Kingdom in NAFTA. We speak the same language, have similar traditions and enjoy a similar attitude towards dictators, free speech and democracy. When it comes to a scrap we stand firm, (or were able to do till Mr Blair's lot undermined our defence forces), the continental Europeans run. The French can't even put a decent aircraft carrier up for combat with planes that work.
All opinion polls show the British people would love to be in NAFTA. Only the sly Europhiles and the Labour Government brief against it.
Condoleezza Rice has stated that if Britain applied to join NAFTA then in all probability America would welcome us. If Mexico and Israel can make it past the U.S. congress then in all probability Britain could to. The ailing New Labour Government will have far less influence over the dynamic new Bush administration than the outgoing Clinton one. Those New Atlantic politicians such as Newt Gingrich, Martin Feldstein, Henry Kissinger and Jean Kirkpatrick should be encouraged in promoting world free trade where the consumer will be the main benificiary.
We already have a world currency in the dollar, why waste time and effort creating a second class affair in the Euro.
America is right to take on the E.U. and its restrictive practices in the world trade bodies. An Atlantic trade organisation would deal the death blow to this crazy E.U. idea and it's suppression of national identity.
The E.U. rules prevent the U.K. from participation in regional trading blocs, thats how open and free the E.U. is.
America you helped us in 1945, there are many in the U.K. who look to you for a lead now. If William Hague and the Conservatives made common cause with an Atlantic trade alliance the next British election would be in the bag.
A real manufacturing opportunity at last >>> America and the UK to develop joint Harrier successor.
About the only "good" news to emanate from Blairs government recently. Britain and Our real allies, the USA are to develop a joint strike aircraft successor to the Harrier jump jet. When it was first launched our pals in the American Forces saw it was a great concept and piled in with orders. This will generate real jobs, not those "airey fairy" ones from the EU. As we have said before when it comes to making the goods you can rely on the Americans and the Brits to come up with the goods. Oh, by the way anyone want to buy some out of date, pretty euro-fighters. No bombs or bullets, and way over budget but good for air shows!!
Well it doesn't take an Einstein to work it out.
The main problem is the huge benefit bill faced by France and Germany as
their populations get older. In Britain they are in a slightly better state
but the benefit bill there continues to soar, soaking up almost 25% of
government spending.
Taxation in the UK now approaches 45% of the
GDP putting a constraint on the spending power of the consumer and delaying
recovery. The British government continues to put out the spin that the
UK economy is in good shape, yet manufacturing is in steep decline and
the service sector has this month suffered it's steepest fall for months.
Benefit claims continue to rise in the UK and
Europe, this means that the British chancellor must find additional funding
through indirect taxation to fund the growing claims. Taxpayers are saving
less as they see the government taking more of their hard earned cash.
In mainland Europe, the disasterous euro has put paid to any hopes of immediate
recovery as inflation surges in Ireland but growth remains stagnant in
France and Germany.
More to come see you soon
