The chonnaQ is a tailored weapon in much the same way as the betleH. Each is weighted and colored according to a warrior's liking. The first chonnaQ was created approximately two millenia ago by the Tulaxxian's sentient ancestors who lived very primitive lives. As the Tulaxxian race matured along with the galaxy, the weapon was made with different material than wood and bone, using more metals and the ever-durable plasteel. The design became more 'IH (or "beautiful") as creativity was recognized and accepted within the Tulaxxian warrior society. Each chonnaQ looks different due to the warrior's house and liking. This uniqueness is what differentiates them from other hand spears.
However, no more than 90 years ago, Weequay traveling through Tulaxxian restricted space soon found themselves in a long, hard fight; first in space, which soon became a ground fight as the ships landed...or rather crashed on a habitable moon in the system they encountered each other. Several of the Tulaxxian warriors carried age-old chonnaQs that have been handed down within their houses for centuries. But, when a couple of them fell to the Weequay due the dishonorable method of backstabbing with two knives, the chonnaQs were taken as trophies and reproduced when the Weequay fled back to their homeworld. Later, the Tulaxxian government discovered the dishonorable replication of their elegant weapon and have declared war on the whole race of the Weequay because of this. They've been fighting ever since...and the Tulaxxian's are winning.
