Latex Anthro Gas Masks

Between 2006 and 2007 I've been building Anthro Gas Masks. Check out wildgasmasks.com for a view of what I've been up to.

"Oh!" the Deer

Just before FC04 I had an Itch... and I needed to Build: So out of the random convolutions of my head spewed forth: Oh! The Deer. I built him during December of 03, and wore him 3 times in 04: Once at FurtherConfusion, Once at CaliFur, and Once at AnthroCon! Oh was my first test at making a suit with Dimensional Eyes: where they seem to follow the observer. This was also the first suit I made that was Intended to be sold, and thus the construction is Very lightweight: the Deer head sits on the head of the wearer much like a baseball catchers mask. Air circulation is through the mouth, as is some vision. Vision is very 2-d as the placement on the eyes on the side of the head means the wearer has to scan their surroundings. Lastly, the suit also had two modes of being worn: With or without the Bodysuit, giving the wearer much flexibility as to what clothing they could wear: the Head & neck, gloves, tail, and hooves could all be worn with shirt and pants. I was rather satisfied with the way this suit came out. It Was a little tricky to put on either way, I will make a note of that and on my next design will accomodate for the wearer to be able to get in and out without any help from anyone else.

Here are some pictures:

He was sold after AnthroCon: May he travel well!

Better... Badder... B*tchier! B*tch's head gets Rebuilt!

12-29-2002: Ok... It's a month before Further Confusion, and I dont have anything new to display... I look over my wuffgal, and notice a bit of.... use... She's getting a lil... Tattered... hmm... I've been experimenting with a few new techniques, so why not try them on her now! And so I got a wild hair and nearly tore her head down to this:

Improvements, done and to be done include: Quite a few improvements being done! Along with her PVC boots and wardrobe, along with a bit of tweaking of her bodysuit, she's going to look pretty bad-ass come Further Confusion :)

01-12-2003: Finished!!! Check her out!!

FC is Way too close now for me to do anything major with the body... so I went ahead and strengthened the stitches, and got her body as prettied up as I can for now. Wait till next year tho :)~

More Experiments with Gel

6-9-2002: Today I worked a bit more with the Gel tht can be found in the Fellowes wrist pads in an attempt to find out more about its qualities and possible use in fursuiting, this is what I've found:

1) It can be cooked fast for about the first three times that it is melted. Beyond that, it aquires a "Burnt Plastic" smell. Also, it starts changing its color from aqua blue to aqua green when it reaches the end of its melting life.

2) Once it has been set into the final shape that you want, coat it with Talcum or Baby powder as you pull it out of the mold. This will keep it from sticking to everything! Of course, once you do this, you will NOT be able to melt it again without first tsking off the layer with the powder on it, so make SURE that you have achieved the desired final shape before applying the powder.

3) Make certain the mold you use can stand heat up to 250 degrees F (125 C). Ive tried to make a duct-tape mold, and it melted the duct tape!!! Plaster molds that have been coated with glue seem to work best.

4) The Gel CANNOT be easily painted onto a surface... It forms bubbles like mad, and the result is less than satisfactory. It Must be slush-cast or poured on to the mold, like Latex.

5) The stuff is pretty heavy. The Boobs that Savak and I originally came up with were Extremely heavy, consisting of 6 wristpads each (Apparently, a realistic weight... I salute all the women whom have breasts that large!!). By what it looks, the Gel would be Ideal for small fleshy parts (Tounges, for example). The only question is how well will it handle or react to dyes and paints.

6) One gel wrist-pad, melted and spread to about .375" thickness (3/8ths, or about 5mm) can cover a little more than a 14x14 inch area (30x30 cm). Any thinner than that and it wont survive long as a Skin.

My Brothers Roo head

This is a brand new costume that Im still working on. Check back for progress on this suit, The plans for this head can be seen here.

01-2001: Ive finally overcome a problem that I had with gluing the Sunglass lenses onto the Plastic Bowls: A Product called "Outdoor Goop" helped overcome this problem.
03-2001: After a month-long delay, I finally got my tail in gear again so that I can see about having this suit done before CF12. Ive gone ahead and reinforced the Ears with Hangar Wire. I was searching for a wire product that Loran the Skunk uses for his ears, but was unable to find a source for it. So I used some Hanger Wire, something that I have an abundance of at home. I've also began to glue fur onto this head Using Outdoor Goop, which Kicks A$$ compared to Neoprene Cement!

4-11-2001: Am Almost Done! All Ive gotta do is a bit of cleanup, and it will premiere at ConFurence 12! Have built the Tail and Paws to go with it, Id LIKE to get the color patterns airbrushed but I dont think that will happen before CF....

My Brothers Skunk Head/Tail/Paws known as "Ken"

My brother wanted a costume too, so I built this simple Skunk Head/Paws for him. At CF10 He and B*tch were in a Skit together.

My Pipe dream known as "B*tch"

Oh its so fun to dream... She's my Full-Body Duct-tape Fursuit (Portable Sauna is an extremely accurate description). Lots of Monterey Mills fur, Bottles of Neoprene Cement, 8 rolls of Duct Tape (!) and Batting for the Tail. If she were alive Id marry her in an instant... She made her debut at Further Confusion in 1999 in a skit with Chythar's Foxsuit.

The following are Photos of a Naked B*tch: BEFORE she had fur glued on... The suit was on a Duct Tape dummy.

B*Tch's New Body (01-2001):
I am currently working on a new version of her body, one that ISN'T duct-tape based and thus a heckuvalot more breathable.

02-2001: My Roomate Savak and I were both curious about the qualities of your common Gel-filled computer wrist pad. I went ahead and got the MSDS for the Gel Pads, and according to it the stuff is Inert. And so, I went and bought a total of 12 of these Gel pads (6 per breast) at $15 a pop. Using the old Duct Tape Dummy and Bitch's old body, we created a plaster cast of the Breasts. We used Elmers Glue to coat the insides of the plaster breastforms. Savak grabbed a big pot, Took the gel out of the Wrist Pads, cut up 6 of the Gel pads into a lot of little bits (about 2" strips), and proceeded to slow-cook the stuff on top of the stove. About 2 hours later the hot goo was ready, and we poured it into the plaster form. About 3-4 hours later the breasts were cool enough to pull out of the plaster cast. Volia! Bitch's got a new set of Boobs! :) Size G, and the total cost was AHECKUVALOT less ($225 including making the plaster cast) than trying to buy pre-made gel breastforms from the TG stores that cost upwards from $800! We've determined that the stuff will work GREAT for creating body parts like muscles as its easy to get and its not that volatile! (It DOES have a flash point we did find out, but that mistake was made by accidentally overheating an iddy biddy bit of the stuff). The SoBe bottle is there as a size reference.

4-11-2001: Ive seperated the Fur from the Duct-Tape legs and am now sewing the Fur together. I never realized how straightforward the pattern was before! Im REALLY hoping to have her done before CF, This weekend will be Crunchtime! Ohyeah: Ive bought a Snap plier and snaps and learned how to use it... Forget Velcro, zippers, and all that stuff, Snaps are Da Bomb!!! No more fur stuck in the Velcro or Zipper teeth! Yay!!

4-25-2001: She was finished in time for CF, And Boy does She look SEXY! :) I swear: She IS the Grrl of my dreams... She's ready for a Photo Shoot now meethinks ;) I had to sew in zippers to hold the top half to the bottom half, otherwise, if I were to bend over with her on, all the horizontal snaps would uncerimoniously pop open.

2-2-2002: PVC WolfB*tch
RrrrrUFF!!! RrrrOWL!!!! *Pantpant* HOWWWWWLLLL!!!!! Oh!! *coughcough* Erm!!
After all these years she FINALLY got a pair of High-heeled boots to go with her Plantigrade PVC look. She had a BLAST with these during her photoshoot :)

My One-Week Wolf Head known simply as "Wolf"

This head was completely built in the week before CF9 in 1998. Uses Duct-tape over Tee-shirt, a pair of Sunglasses, a couple of bits of Foam, Neoprene Cement, and Monterey Mills fur.

(Photo by Ixbalam) - This is the only rare LIVE picture I have of him (Top Right), in with Silvermane (top left), and Wild Wolf (bottom). If anyone else has any other pictures of him from the Impromptu furdance that happened in the Bar at CF9 or from ZonieCon 1, please let me know!

My Stego Costume

After attending my first Furry convention CF6 in 1995 and seeing the Costume Presentation, My imagination went nuts. I had to create a costume! And so I did one of my Character: Stego! Using mostly mechanical skills and guesssing and brainstorming alot, I built the Costume in six months using Fabric, Aluminum Flashing (Roofing Material), a Clear Plastic Easter Egg shell, Hanger Wire, Plasti-dip, Hot glue and Spray Paint:
