Episode No. 103 - Teamwork

Synopsis

At the highschool, Kimberly and Trini are getting signatures from other students for a petition to shut down a local industrial dump. Seems local pollution is getting quite bad, and Mr Caplan is impressed by their efforts. The guys come by, sign the petition, but are unable to go with Kim and Trini to present the petition to the industrial dump owners - Jason has a karate class to teach, Billy has a junior science club meeting, and Alpha wanted to talk to Zac.

On the moon, it's revealed that Rita owns the waste site, and is none too happy with Kimberly and Trini's efforts. Once the girls are at the plant, Rita sends down the putties. At the Command Centre, where Zac is teaching Alpha dance moves (!), the guys meet and are about to go help the girls when Rita sends down a Minotaur monster. They morph, and go fight the monster.

The girls finish the putties off, but Goldar arrives with reinforcements. Kimberly and Trini morph and fight them. Meanwhile, the Minotaur grows, and the girls join the guys and call out the zords, blasting Goldar and the unfinished putties in the process. The monster proves too tough for the zords, so the Rangers retreat to the Command Centre, where Zordon presents them with their Power Weapons. Jason gets his Power Sword, Zac receives his Power Axe, Billy gains a Power Lance, Trini is given two Power Daggers and Kimberly gets her Power Bow and Arrows.

The Rangers return to fight the now normal-sized Minotaur, and promptly blast the tar out of him. Finally, they form the Megablaster, and destroy the monster completely. Back at Angel Grove High, Zordon congratulates the Rangers for their teamwork, and all the teens help clean up a mess that Bulk and Skull made earlier that day, leaving Caplan wondering where all the rubbish went. Good work team.

Commentary

The third episode in the series, this one proves that Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers just keeps getting better and better. It was all in there somewhere, ladies and gentlemen. The teens trying to save the world while at school, Trini and Kimberly proving that girls can do anything better than boys by laying a severe smackdown on those putties, and some great fight scenes between our heroes and the monster of the day. All in all, a fun episode that didn't take itself too seriously - classic MMPR.

Best Line of the Episode

Gotta give this one to Alpha, for when he, Zordon and Zac discover Kimberly and Trini being attacked by putties at the industrial waste site - "Dudettes in trouble! Dudettes in trouble!" It's all in the delivery, people...
