We start this episode like we do so many others - in the Youth Centre. TJ and Cassie are studying when Bulk and Skull enter with some packages for Lieutenant Stone. The reason - they’ve switched jobs, again, and now they work for ‘Super Duper Fast Packages’. But as Stone opens his package, he finds that it’s empty. In response to this, Bulk and Skull tell him that the daytime thief has struck again. They tell Stone about this burglar who steals things from their packages - their manager thinks that they are responsible, and if it happens again, Bulk and Skull will be arrested. TJ says to Cassie that, "Bulk and Skull make mistakes, but they aren’t thieves." Coming over to help, he agrees to a stakeout.
Bulk, Skull and TJ arrive at the warehouse where the packages are kept before they are delivered. Bulk and Skull hide in a large crate, while TJ hides behind a tall stack of parcels. Bulk, of course, gets hungry, so TJ goes out to get some food. Cut to moon. Porto and Rygog are currently finishing construction of two more zords, and more importantly, a remote control unit to control the zords with. Divatox, pacing the Subcraft, is watching them and shouts down, through a megaphone, for them to hurry up.
As TJ is returning with some food, his communicator beeps - some piranhatron have appeared in Angel Grove. TJ immediately teleports there, meets up with Carlos and Ashley, and finds some piranhatron ripping out a phone from a phone box. As they watch, some more piranhatron are sneaking up behind them. They rush to attack, and we have a small fight scene, which lasts until the piranhatrons escape with the phone. TJ returns to the factory, and finds all the packages destroyed. Bulk and Skull are found hiding in their crate - they heard someone come in, but got a little afraid. TJ almost gets angry, but simply tells them that they have to try again.
Cross back to the Youth Centre. Cassie and Ashley are applying makeup to Skull for that traditional ‘old lady’ effect, and Bulk, TJ and Justin are busy making up fake packages. Back outside, they form a set-up - Skull is doing some gardening, and Bulk drives up to deliver some packages. Both TJ and Justin are hiding in the trees watching, and the rest are in a car half a block away. Suddenly, as Bulk is delivering the packages, some piranhatrons show up and begin to open the parcels (I knew it!). Bulk and Skull discover them, but TJ comes to the rescue, leading Bulk and Skull to safety while the others beat up the piranhatrons. Bulk tells TJ that no-one will believe their story, but TJ tells them to meet him in two hours in the Youth Centre. Once out of sight, the five rangers then teleport to the Power Chamber.
Alpha works out that the parts the piranhatrons were stealing were needed to build a remote control of some sort. Meanwhile, Porto tells Divatox that the zords are finished - she immediately commands them to destroy the Power Rangers. The cat zord lifts off and heads for Earth, where it immediately sets off the alarm in the Power Chamber. The rangers see the danger, morph and return to Angel Grove. They see Rygog piloting the cat zord. Also, the Robo Racer is the seen dragging the shark zord out of the city - the cat zord gives it some kind of power pack, causing the shark zord to recharge, knock the Robo Racer over and join the cat zord. Finally, the eagle zord flies down through the clouds and joins the two evil zords.
The rangers call on their Rescue Zords and Artillatron rolls out - each Rescue Zord immediately changes to High Stance mode. Cue mammoth zord battle. The six good zords battle the three evil zords, but to no avail. Eventually, the three evil zords combine their energy and knock all six zords down with one almighty shot. Divatox is watching, and although Porto suggests that they only use half-strength, Divatox insists on full strength. Rygog pushes the cat zord’s limits too far - the rangers then use a power inversion to drain away the excess power. It succeeds, and the Rescue Zords get back up, forming the Rescue Megazord as they do so.
Realising that they are outnumbered, TJ leaves the cockpit and summons the Turbo Megazord, piloting it into battle alone. He battles the eagle zord, and the Rescue Megazord fights the cat zord. The eagle zord soon takes off for an aerial assault. The rangers call on artillery power, and the Megazords share the two massive weapons, one gun per Megazord. The Turbo Megazord aims the flame thrower at the eagle zord and nukes it in mid-air in a fantastic explosion. The shark zord sends off its fin, but the Rescue Megazord fires with its machine gun weapon. This reverses the fin, sending it crashing back into the shark zord and causing the shark zord to explode. Finally, the Rescue Megazord gets back both weapons and fires at the cat zord. TJ does the Turbo Megazord spinout at the same, and against such massive weaponry, the cat zord is completely, utterly, hopelessly nuked.
Returning to the Space Base, Rygog, still a little groggy after being blown up, is blasted again - this time by Divatox, who is angry that they had three zords and the Power Rangers still won.
Back in the Youth Centre, Bulk and Skull’s manager shows up with police in order to arrest them. Bulk and Skull try to explain, but they aren’t believed. They are just about to be arrested when the Power Rangers teleport in. The red ranger explains what happened and shows the police the remote control. He then congratulates Bulk and Skull and teleports away. Soon, TJ comes in to greet the flabbergasted Bulk and Skull. They both follow the manager out, asking for higher wages and a better truck, but not before Bulk gives TJ a big bear hug. Aw.
Another great Turbo episode has graced out TV sets folks. There’s no mistake, they are definitely making Turbo better and better as the series progresses. We’re about due for a season finale too. Anyway, why was this a great episode? A lack of plot, yes, but a fantastic climactic zord battle and overall, a great sense of fun.
First of all, yes, there wasn’t that much plot wise. Okay, so there was Bulk and Skull, but really, they were directly connected to the major plot, which essentially was ‘Divatox steals things to finish evil zords and sets them loose’. That was it. Now, am I complaining? NO! It was great. Why should we have had a plot? Anything else would’ve gotten in the way of the action and adventure. And who wants that to happen? Seriously folks, who cares about plot when there’s such great fight scenes which involved more zords than you could poke a stick at? Man, this is the reason why I love this show. Great zord battles, nuff said!
You gotta love TJ. Here’s a guy who can keep cool, no matter what kind of odds face him. I mean, it would have been so easy for him to get ticked off at Skull and Bulk - after all, they had been in the perfect position to find out who this ‘daytime thief’ was. But did he get angry? No. He just immediately forms a new plan. Also, I liked it how he piloted one Megazord and the other rangers piloted the other (he would eventually see more of this splitting up in PRiS, but still).
Also, this episode focussed a lot on Bulk, Skull and TJ. I don’t mind, in fact, I was pleasantly surprised. I admit, I’m not the biggest fan of Bulk and Skull eps, but this one was handled well, TJ taking charge. The other three new rangers appeared only briefly, and Justin got in about five minutes of screen time during the second stake-out. Still, again, I’m not complaining, they did it well.
And something I noticed that isn't really good or bad, just a thought. During the climactic zord battle, we see the Blue Senturian dragging the shark zord out of Angel Grove. So obviously, this fight scene, although a different ep of PR, must come from the same Sentai ep that the last zord battle, in Rival Rangers, was from.
And finally, I just have to say that, although I enjoyed the entire zord battle, I just loved the music used, more so than any other previous battles. I'm not even sure why, it just really sounded heroic and powerful.
I’m not sure about a best line, but how about the award for 'most zord-killing explosions in the one episode'. Seriously, I haven’t seen this many monster-nuking explosions since Zeo. But like I always say, the more explosions the merrier! (as you can tell, I am a very disturbed little boy)
