Beginnings Let me start this page with a warning...if you are interested in the Wiccan path because you are a fan of the television shows (i.e. Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Charmed, Buffy, etc.) save yourself some time. Those are Hollywood prototypes and do not resemble the real Wiccan Way. If you are a do-gooder who is out to "save my soul" please try to find someone whose soul needs  saving...mine is just fine, thank you.  If, however, you are truly seeking to learn more of the ways of the Wiccan, feel free to join us in our journey... Following the Wiccan path is a committment. It is a commitment to honor the Mother Earth. It is a commitment to honor our ways. Our main rule is the Wiccan Rede, which is basically Do as you will, as long as you harm none...not yourself, not animals, not trees or any other living thing...be aware of it, follow it, live it. Always be mindful of the rule of three (as we fondly call it)...all that you cast out WILL come back to you times three. That goes for good and evil. If you always try to do things for the good of all and harming none, your life will reflect those values. If you do what you want, never minding who or what gets hurts in the process...your life will then reflect those values. Easy, right? I wouldn't bet the farm on it! Before you try to cast spells, perform any type of magick for that matter, I would highly suggest you research the hows, whys and wherefores....be sure of what you are asking the universe to give you. I have been studying the Craft for a number of years now, and I always, always make sure that what I am asking for is within the boundaries. What are the boundaries? Simple...do not try to change anyone elses life...in any way. We do not try to bring others around to our ways, if they belong with us, they will find their own way to us. That goes for all aspects of life, love, marriage, religion. Just as you shouldn't try to convince someone to switch their religious beliefs to follow ours, you also shouldn't try to make someone love you. Spells asking for love should only be done with an open mind and an open heart, asking for the person who the God and Goddess has chosen to be your life partner to enter your life, not for a specific person to change his or her way of thinking to be yours. You also should never, ever try to bind someone else's own free will. That will is theirs alone, to do with as they please. Not even if you think what you are binding them from is for their own good. They must make decisions as to what is for their own good on their own. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of knowledge. Know what you are doing, and if you are doing it right. I would suggest that your first lesson in Wicca be to buy the book The Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland. Do the lessons, one by one. Do not skip forward, only go on when you are completely comfortable with the chapter you are on. Some other good books that spring to mind are Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham, Everyday Magic by Dorothy Morrison, To Ride a Silver Broomstick and To Stir a Magic Cauldron by Silver Ravenwolf, to mention a few. As your knowledge and power grows, so will your circle of Wiccan friends. You don't have to actively seek them out, they will be drawn to you. Some will come into your life, teach you what they are sent to teach and be gone, others will come and stay for the journey...you cannot control their comings and goings, don't even try. As is our belief, all things happen naturally and for the reasons that are preordained. Trying to force things along is mute. Ask and you will receive, but be mindful in the way you ask. The God and Goddess prefer to be spoken to with respect and in their own language. Therefore we do our asking in rhyme, which is good, but not required. If you are clear of what you are asking for, and it is allowed, and it is for your own good, it will come. Blessed Be in your journey in our ways.
