A. Staff Interaction

1) Obey staff - A Fairchild girl will obey Fairchild staff immediately, on the first command, without question. Failure to do so will be punished.

2) Proper answers - A Fairchild girl will answer all staff questions promptly, directly, and completely. She will not add superfluous explanation or information. She will, however volunteer all extra information (after asking permission first) that is relevant to the question. Failure to do so will be punished.

3) Show respect - A Fairchild girl will show an attitude of respect to the school, staff, classmates, and herself at all times. Respect includes, but is not limited to: manner of speech, body language, and actions. Failure to show respect will be punished.

4) Addressing staff - A Fairchild girl will address a staff member by his/her title (e.g. “Yes Headmaster”), or by “Sir” or “Mam”. Failure to do so will be punished.

5) Curtsey - A Fairchild girl will curtsey when greeting a staff member. Failure to do so will be punished

6) No Complaining - A Fairchild girl does not whine or complain. If she has a legitimate concern, she waits for a staff member to ask if she has something to day, then, and only then, voices her concern with respect. Whining or complaining will be punished.

7) Standing at attention - When told to stand at attention, A Fairchild girl stands with her hands at her sides, essentially motionless, with excellent posture, and does not speak unless spoken to. Failure to do so will be punished.

8) Allowed explanations - When told by a staff member to explain an apparent violation of the rules, a Fairchild girl may explain legitimate circumstances as long as she does not compromise Rule 10, which requires her to accept responsibility for her actions. She may explain only when asked. Explaining without a staff request will be punished.

B. Personal Conduct

9) Do Your Best – a Fairchild girl always does her best at every facet of her life.

10) Responsibility for actions - A Fairchild girl takes responsibility for her actions. When she is wrong, she confesses and accepts the consequences. She does not make excuses for anything that is her fault. Failure to take appropriate responsibility will be punished.

11) Direct and honest - A Fairchild girl will always be direct and honest. Failure to do so will be punished.

12) No encouraging disrespect - A Fairchild girl will not encourage other students to disrespect (as defined above), the school, staff, classmates, or herself. Failure to do so will be punished.

13) No fighting - A Fairchild girl will not fight or physically abuse any one. Violators will be punished.

14) No verbal abuse – A Fairchild girl does not belittle or verbally abuse others. Violators will be punished.

15) No stealing - A Fairchild girl will not take or use something that is not hers without explicit permission of the owner or a staff member. Doing so will be punished.

16) No harming property - A Fairchild girl will not disrespect or deface school property. Harming school property will be punished.

17) No unnecessary touching - A Fairchild girl will not have unnecessary physical contact, holding hands, embracing, sexual contact, etc with any person on school property. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

18) No sexual self-gratification - A Fairchild girl does not perform self-sexual gratification. Sexual self-gratification will be punished.

19) No contraband - A Fairchild girl will not keep on her person or in her personal storage any unauthorized material. All material (e.g. electronics, books, magazines, food) must be approved by a staff member. There will be regular inspections of each girl and her personal storage. There is absolutely no privacy from staff members. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

20) No unauthorized eating and drinking - A Fairchild girl does not eat or drink in any place except the cafeteria and resident lounges. Specifically eating and drinking in classrooms and resident rooms is not allowed. The exception is that water in issued bottles is allowed while in the athletic facilities. Gum is never allowed. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

21) No throwing objects - A Fairchild girl throws objects only when instructed to do so during fitness training. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

22) Language - A Fairchild girl will never use profane language, or any language unbefitting a proper young woman. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

23) No alcohol or drugs - A Fairchild girl will not possess or consume alcoholic beverages or unapproved drugs. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

24) Money - A Fairchild girl will keep no money or access to money (e.g. credit card) on her person. She must request her escrowed funds from a staff member. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

25) External communication - A Fairchild girl will have no communication with others outside of the institution without permission from a staff member. All approved communication will be monitored. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

26) No unauthorized visitors – A Fairchild girl will not harbor unauthorized people within school property. Failure to adhere to this will be punished.

27) Fitness - A Fairchild girl will keep her body physically fit. Failure to do so will be punished.

28) Prompt - A Fairchild girl is always prompt. Failure to be prompt will be punished.

29) Informing - When a Fairchild girl knows of another student in violation of the rules, she will report that student to the staff for corrective measures. Failure to do so will be punished.

30) Lights out – A Fairchild girl remains silent in her bed from Lights Out until Revalee the next morning. Failure to do so will be punished.

31) Staying put - A Fairchild girl does not leave the following places without permission:
• school grounds during the months of the school session
• her desk during class
• the fitness facility during fitness training
• her room after lights out
• the dining hall during meals
• the corner or other position during post-punishment “remorse time”.
• a lap, a standing/bending position, desk, whipping stool, paddling bench, or other punishment position while being punished. Failure to stay put when necessary will be punished.

32) Confession journal - A Fairchild girl will keep an up-to-date personal Confession Journal of her naughty behavior and other reasons that she believes she has not lived up to the Fairchild Way. She will confess the items on her list at her weekly scheduled personal confessional with the Headmaster. Failure to keep an accurate up-to-date Confession Journal will be punished.

33) Accepting punishment - A Fairchild girl accepts the Headmaster’s punishments as stochically as possible without question. In particular she does not beg, plead, or place her hands over her bottom. Crying is done as silently as possible. Failure to do so will be punished in a further, more severe, fashion.

C. Dress Code

34) Dress code - A Fairchild girl will always dress to produce a pleasing appearance that adheres to the Fairchild dress code:

34-1) A Fairchild girl wears the standard uniform that she was issued upon arrival at the school at all times except fitness training, sleeping, punishment, and bathing.
34-2) A Fairchild girl does fitness training in the athletic shorts, athletic top, and athletic shoes issued to her upon arrival.
34-3) A Fairchild girl sleeps in the standard sleeping apparel issued to her upon arrival.
34-4) A Fairchild girl is punished in her school uniform except for underwear, which is removed for bare bottom spanking. For more serious offenses, a girl will be punished dressed in the Punishment Gown that was issued to her upon arrival.
34-5) A Fairchild girl never wears stockings above the knee, jewelry, makeup, or accessories other than the standard uniform.
34-6) A Fairchild girl will have no tattoos or unnatural body markings.
34-7) A Fairchild girl will keep her hair long, unbraided, and unrestrained.

Violations of the Dress Code will be punished.

D. Academic Conduct

35) Proper class material - A Fairchild girl comes to class with the proper material. Including appropriate writing utensils, notebooks, calculators, and material that is required by the teacher. Failure to do so will be punished.

36) Academic attitude- A Fairchild girl comes to class mentally prepared to participate in the class and get the most out of it. This includes both having done background work assigned by the teacher, having done homework assignments completely and well, being attentive, and maintaining an attitude that facilitates learning. Failure to do so will be punished.

37) Own work - A Fairchild girl always does her own work. Plagiarism rules… Failure to do so will be punished.

General Behavior

38) Adherence to the Fairchild Way - A Fairchild girl will be punished for any conduct, including that not covered in Rules 1-37, that is judged by the Fairchild staff to be unsuited to a proper young lady.
