Interesting facts:

Named in honour of Willaim Carson, an early 19th century Newfoundland reformer and politican.

The Carson was so big that she could not sail into Port aux Basques harbour for the first 3 years of service.

For the first three years, the Carson sailed to Argentia

After the arrival of the Nautica and Atlantica, the Carson was switched to the Labrador Coastal route, which proved to be very sucessful.  The second season proved to be her last.   On her first voyage in her second season, the Carson hit arctic ice, and sank head first on June 3, 12 nautical miles off the Labrador coast.
