Welcome. I hope that you find this website of value as you pursue a Vocal Coach/Accompanist. You may be a singing actor who is looking for an objective eye and ear, or someone who has never studied singing or how to relate the spoken (sung) words to the notes on a page of music. You may be an “actor or dancer first” who has never sung and is seeking guidance about how to get started in what can be a seemingly daunting process, or you may be a seasoned professional who is looking for a fresh point of view, seeking to wake up your technique, or searching for new material and/or an accompanist to work with. Whatever your situation, I can get you connected.

Because my work is so highly personalized and tailored to identifying and highlighting the individual actors’ attributes while addressing the areas (Technical, Material, Presentational) that need attention, it’s difficult to be overly specific here about our work together without having met you yet, but I will say that by the time you leave the studio you will have the material that is right for you, specific direction about how to play that material and vocal technique that is clear and focused (and for some being learned and discovered for the first time) and applied to the material that we have chosen. You will also get and have an honest and objective opinion of what is unique about you as a performer as well as some specifics about the areas that need attention and need to be improved. We will also specifically address the post audition comments that I hear casting directors say often about why they were interested or not interested in a particular actor. It’s information we cannot live without as performers.

I realize that some people have particular needs (such as only needing an accompanist and not a coach) or are currently working with another teacher or coach and in those instances our time together may be only brief. That’s fine too. We can tailor your needs around what I offer and come up with a plan that works.

My studio environment is casual and pressure free and I have a very large song/score library (ever growing) at your disposal from which we can choose material, or we can work material that you have an existing defined connection with. If Key Transpositions need to be made we can do that too. At the end of the session you will be given a CD with a piano recording of your material for you to work on your own. I will also give you (if you wish) a CD of vocal exercises and warm-ups that will be helpful to the particular material you are working on or just a general warm up for your use. It’s up to you and it’s included in the cost of the session. Please click on the links above to find out more about me and (if you prefer) contact me to set up an appointment. I look forward to helping you bring to the table the maximum potential of your “voice” as a singing actor.
