Fine Art Series: Catharsis

Artist's Statement

early on in my photographic journey, i was heavily influenced by cindy sherman's film stills and loved the idea of capturing small moments/feelings in my life (movie) and portraying different elements of myself (drag). it's entitled "catharsis" because i am depicting a young womyn's coming out experience and portraying the often-accompanying gender conflict therein.

all photos are self-portraits and were taken in spring of 2001 with an asahi pentax k1000, using a tripod and cable release.
