Choir has been with the McDowell Children's Community Choir since 1997.  Mrs. Davisson received a degree in Music Performance (Voice) from Methodist College in 1992,  studying voice with Dr. Diane Guthrie.  She  is presently working on her Masters in Music Education at Appalachian School of Music. Mrs. Davisson has been a music specialist in McDowell County Schools since 1997,  and has taught in both middle school and elementary music programs.  She serves as the Music/Youth Director for Marion's First Presbyterian Church. She has taught theatre classes at private Christian schools and performs periodically with the Foothills Community Theatre program.  Mrs. Davisson recently attended a Music Conference in Montreat, NC.  At Montreat Conference, she was able to vocally perform under the direction of renowned conductor Dr. Andre Thomas.  She also got a chance to meet and learn from the Charlotte's Children Choir music director Ms. Sandy Holland, on how great children choirs are produced.  Ms. Holland was at the conference as the instructor for the children's choir.  It was an experience she will never forget.  In August of 2002, Mrs. Davisson received her Kindermusik certification.

PAST
Before coming to McDowell County, Mrs. Davisson and her family lived in Fayetteville, NC.  There she worked as a Music Instructor (Voice and Piano) with the Methodist College Performing Arts Program.  She was a very busy paid soprano soloist performing in many local churches and at special Methodist College events.  She worked in the summers for Joy Cogswell, director of Methodist College music camps, serving as a primary beginning voice and piano teacher.  She established and directed a Home-Schooled children's choir of approximately 90 children from 1992-1996.

FUTURE
Moving to the Carolina mountains was a dream come true for this Indiana gal.  It is her mission to promote music appreciation in McDowell County.  In McDowell County there are eight elementary schools, unfortunately only three have public music teachers.  The County funds are limited and usually get spent on technology improvements.  Thus the children's choir was created to promote music awareness.

FAMILY AND FUN
Her immediate family consists of three children and a hardworking husband.  For free time Mrs. Davisson likes to take visits to her parent's home on Lake James.  She stays very active in church functions and taxis her incrediable children around to all their sport and academic events.
