CHAPTER THREE (PART FIVE) - BRIAN

Howie and the robot were wandering aimlessly around the hallways, to Howie’s horror, he realized they were lost, and he hadn’t heard Nick in a while. He was starting to panic.

“Hey!” He snapped at the robot as it also looked around, clicking its fingers.

)))Hum?((( It asked.

“Where the hell are we?” He demanded.

It stared at him for a second before suddenly pointing to its flat face, the usual garble of useless computer talk that ran over it changed, it beeped and a map appeared.

)))Well we started off here,((( It said pointing to a place on the deck map, suddenly a green line ran from the point and began running down the map hallways, it stopped suddenly and another dot started blinking. )))And now were here!(((

Howie clapped his hand over his face. “Ask a stupid question to a robot,” He muttered to himself almost crying over the whole situation. A sound rang out through out the hallway suddenly making Howie freeze, the robots face changed again to the computer information and it clicked it fingers, standing on the tip of its booted feet, looking around Howie trying to see. Howie turned around and saw light filtering at the end of the hall wall.

White light, Howie and the robot looked at each other and the robot shrugged, Howie rolled his eyes and began walking towards the light, it was another screen, a COM system. A.J.’s face broke through then disappeared in the snow again. Howie quickly pressed the button.

“A.J.!” He shouted, hoping that he had heard him through the faulty connection. The screen remained fuzzy and A.J. broke through again, but only for a few seconds.

“Sec………..fix……….energy……..” A.J. said before going away again. Howie sighed disappointed and leaned back a little, waiting for A.J. to fix it.

A.J. was tiredly trying to type, in his attempt to warn Howie the first time, he had used his mind to fill the holes in the system, that had taken a lot of energy to do now that he wasn’t running straight on panic, he could feel his connection with the rest of the systems slipping, working through it was like trying to work his way in syrup, he felt slightly sleepy to.

“Never. Ever. Ever!” He promised himself, punctuating each word with the type of a button. He couldn’t lose it now, now he was needed even more now. Blinking, he shook his head quickly and forced himself awake, he continued typing.

Brian suddenly moaned and clutched his chest, he started breathing hard.

“You okay?” A.J. called over sounding like if Brian had even answered he wouldn’t have really been paying attention.

Brian suddenly started coughing and wheezing, inside his chest, warmth was spreading, and it was getting hotter.

“Brian?” A.J. called out again, now paying more attention. Brian didn’t answer, A.J. suddenly felt panicked, what the hell was he supposed to do now!? Kevin and Nick needed him, well maybe, Howie needed to be told what to do and what happened, and now Brian most defiantly needed him, and A.J. didn’t know jack about medical stuff.

Perfect, he litterly needed to really be everywhere at once. A.J. heard Brain suddenly start to franticly suck in great gulps of air.

“Oh god!” Oh god!” He cried in pain, a searing, boiling heat was tearing through his chest, the heat should have killed him or even burned him, but it didn’t. Tears began sliding down his face as he cried in pain. He couldn’t breath.

A.J. decided that Brian defiantly needed him right now. The other would have to wait, if Brian died that would really kill the friendship he had with these people he had just met. Hesitating for the fact that he might not be able to get back into the system he would be so tired, he began to pull out. Feeling some more energy come back now that he was getting out of the computer. A.J. blinked and saw Brian begin to shake as he cried, he pulled out more quickly, the tube slid out of the circuitry and back into his hand and he yanked the wires and cord out as well, not bothering to put them back, he quickly bounced over to Brian as he curled up into a ball.

“Yo! What’s wrong!?” A.J. yelped not having the slightest clue what to do.

Brian cried louder as the burning became somehow hotter, he started screaming sending A.J. into full-blown panic.

“Oh shit!” He shouted looking around wildly. “KEVIN!” He howled, that man always knew what to do, get him! “KEVIN! SOMEBODY! ANYBODY AT THIS POINT WOULD DO” He shrieked as Brain continued to scream, suddenly his arched his back, uncurling and A.J. recoiled slightly. Right where he opening in his chest had been, a strange light glowed through the shirt. A reddish, white light that sparkled like a jewel.

“What the hell!?” A.J. breathed frightened, having no idea what to do.

Brian’s hand suddenly shot out, and clamped onto A.J.’s arm before he could even react, his grip was so hard it could have broken the robotic suite. Suddenly, the pain flared to as hot as anything, with a burst it seemed to explode and A.J. got the shock of his life. Litterly. A shock unlike anything A.J. had ever received before burst through him sending him flying into the opposite wall next to the power unit, the jolt was so hard that when he hit the wall he dented the metal. Brian was thrown back into the wall he had been leaning against and slumped down onto the ground with a gasp.

A.J. sat there stunned, shaking. But not from surprise or pain, but from energy, he blinked rapidly as energy flowed through him, more then he had ever had in his entire life. A.J. suddenly stared laughing.

“Wow!” He gasped completely buzzed. He was now really awake, he felt like he could stay awake for two years with out his body having a single problem.

Brian lay on the floor shuddering, every heart beat sending a stabbing pain through him, but at lest it wasn’t the heat.

“What the hell did you do man! That was great!” A.J. said laughing as he continued to shake, the energy bouncing all through him. Brian’s response was him suddenly curling up into a ball again, he bent over and vomited, his stomach clenching. A.J. quickly scrambled to his feet and rushed over, he felt like he could run a million mile race now.

“Are you okay!?” He asked eagerly as Brian finished and spit. He breathed hard and nodded a little.

“I think,” He managed to say.

“What the hell happened!?”

“How should I know!?” Brian cried and instantly stared coughing, his chest stinging from it. A.J. quickly patted his back.

“Okay! Take it easy man! I’m gonna get the other guys.” He said pointing, he still had know idea what to do or what had just happened. Brian nodded still breathing hard, A.J. bounced back over to the power unit and quickly he held his hand out to it, the tube shot out into it. A.J. closed his eyes and slipped back into the computer system, to his delight he got in instantly, faster then he had before, and he even managed to get into the camera system to, with out having to use his mini computer. The energy boost he got also allowed him to use the new power in his suite to power up a couple more cameras.

“Oh this is so cool!” A.J. said grinning, his eyes moving back and forth, glowing green.

Brian lay breathing hard still, he felt completely freaked over what had just happened. What the hell had they done to him!?

The pain in his chest was receding to a dull sharp pain, a relief compared to the other pain. Exhausted, Brian scooted away from the contents of his stomach and curled up into a ball, he closed his eyes letting his body relax, wishing for god only knows how many time, that he wasn’t here. Now that the burning fire was gone, the freezing cold was returning.

He shivered and hugged himself tighter. A.J. was plowing through the system with much more ease then he had ever been able to do before. He quickly headed back to the COM unit where he had been talking to Howie last.

Howie was standing in front of the unit with his arms folded in front of his chest. He tapped his foot impatiently, he was really worried that A.J. hadn’t come back. He looked around as the robot stood off to the side clicking its fingers.

“What is taking him so long?” He asked worried, the robot looked over at him.

)))Maybe he is having trouble fixing the power to the COM!((( It suggested.

Maybe, Howie looked at the blurring snow again and sighed.

“Do you think something happened to him?” He finally asked.

)))Like what?(((

Howie stared at it, “You want me to name some things that could have happened?”

)))Well it depends on what your taking about, if your worrying about something specific I can calculate to see if it is likely probable!((( It offered, clicking its fingers.

Howie rolled his tongue over his teeth as he stared at it, giving it a weird look. “Like that thing getting him!” He said after a second, sounding exasperated.

)))Oh. That’s likely probable.((( It said knowingly nodding as it looked around again.

“I was afraid of that.” Howie muttered rolling his eyes.

There was silence for a minute.

)))If it has eaten your friend then his chances are better.((( The robot said, coming as close as it could to comforting.

Howie looked at it aghast, he was speechless for a moment then realized that the robot was just telling him the facts, it was what it did. It was a computer and computers just told you the truth. Howie still didn’t like it though.

“Okay, in issues of probable situations referring to other people, its things like that that will get you left behind.” Howie advised.

The robot clicked its fingers.

)))Technically, I don’t think I was supposed to go with in the first place.((( It said thinking.

“Don’t talk.”

)))Okay.(((

They stood there in silence for another minute when suddenly the COM screen sparked to life, Howie instantly jumped as A.J. appeared clear as day.

“Hey! Howie! Check it out!” A.J. said happily. “You won’t believe what just happened!”

“A.J.! What happened! What the hell is going on!?” Howie demanded pressing the button. “Where is Nick!”

“Oh! Listen up quick man! Kevin managed to get to Nick in time, I think there headed back here.”

“So he’s okay?”

“Yeah, but that thing is still around, get your ass back here, cause I have a big problem with Brian!” A.J. said urgently.

“What’s wrong with him?” Howie asked, feeling fear quickly settle in the pit of his stomach again.

“Its……….um………just get here alright!” A.J. said unable to explain.

Howie thought to himself for a minute, he pressed the button again.

“Do you think you can wait?” He asked with false hope.

“Why?” A.J. demanded sounding slightly panicked.

“Because I think it might take us a while to get back to you guys since I think were pretty far off and we have to go carefully because of that thing.” Howie said sounding a little scared.

A.J. bit his lips and thought for a minute. A sound suddenly rang out, it sounded like a metal bar being dropped far off, the sound echoed through out the hall. Howie starred off to the side, he held his breath. A.J. was even silent as he listened, hearing what Howie had.

Shit! Howie thought, we can’t afford to stay on this deck! And they can’t afford to wait for me!

The robot clicked its fingers. It seemed to sense what Howie was thinking. )))Why don’t you meet up on the next deck!((( It suggested.

Howie and A.J. looked at it, it shrank back as if it had done something wrong.

)))Well I mean, you know, if you go up to the next deck then you can meet at the safe house, with out having to really worry about the creature being there for certain.((( It explained tapping its index fingers together nervously.

“That could work!” Howie said turning back to the screen.

“You want to stay split up?” A.J. asked in disbelief. “This is what got us in trouble in the first place!”

“Yeah, but we don’t have a choice!” Howie said desperately.

“A.J., can you tell us where the nearest elevator is? We can go up that way.” Howie held up the power disk, showing A.J. how he could power it.

A.J. opened his mouth but nothing came out, he looked like he didn’t want to agree with this, but they had to get somewhere remotely safe soon. He chewed on his lip for a moment before nodding.

“Alright, hold on.” A.J.’s face turned away and he disappeared, the screen went blank again.

As A.J. stared going through the map of the deck searching for elevators, he heard the sound of pounding footsteps, he jerked up and the glowing green of his eyes instantly faded away as he pulled out of the system. His vision of the place returning, he looked over his shoulder and saw Kevin running down the hall, dragging Nick.

Both stumbled over, Nick collapsed to the floor, nearly hyperventilating, he looked like he was in shock, he was pale and sweating and his eyes bulged out of his head. He held his bloody hand to his chest, staining his shirt. A.J. opened his mouth to ask what the hell happened, but Kevin was already leaping over to him. Nick crawled over towards Brain. A.J. noticed the metal bar Kevin still carried.

“A.J! Where’s Howie?” He barked.

“Uh………that’s what I’m doing right now. He wants to meet up on the next deck cause he thinks it will take to long to get back. I’m looking for the nearest elevator.” He quickly explained. Kevin nodded breathing hard.

“Alright, is the robot still with him?”

“Uh huh. What happened?” He asked looking at Nick.

“Just keep looking for the elevator,” Kevin said sounding exhausted. He ran his hand through his black hair as he looked over his shoulder uneasily. He made a move to walk around to the front of A.J. but, the younger man quickly grabbed his arm.

“Hey Major, there is something seriously up with your cousin man.” He warned.

“What!? What are you talking about?” Kevin demanded looking over at Brain, his expression quickly changed from confusion to alarm.

“I’ll give you the run down in a sec,” A.J. said turning away and blinking, his eyes glowing as they reopened.

Kevin quickly hurried over to Brian, he knelt down next to his cousin.

“Hey Brian,” He said cautiously, grabbing his shoulder and giving him a little shake. He didn’t respond.

Nick slid up to the wall and opened his bloody hand, glass was still embedded in it, gritting his teeth, he reached down with his other hand and grasped a small slither. He squeezed his eyes shut and pulled. He let out a squeal of pain as the glass came out, sending pain through out his hand and up his arm.

“Brian!” Kevin said sounding panicked as he shook his cousin harder, he still didn’t get a response. “Shit! What the hell happened A.J.!”

A.J. was a little distracted as the computer focused in on an elevator. As he switched to the COM system he quickly answered.

“I don’t know, something happened to him and he sent out this huge blast of energy. Whatever those doctors did it was something beyond weird!”

“Whatever? You knew everything that happened in this station! Don’t you know what they did!?” Kevin demanded.

“Hey man, whatever they did, they didn’t file it. It must have been something secret cause if they didn’t file it, then I don’t know about it. Howie!” He yelped as he switched talking to people.

Kevin looked down at Brian who was unconscious, he quickly looked at Nick.

“Nick! Can you take a look at him?” He asked urgently.

“Just a sec!” Nick sank his teeth into one of the larger pieces of glass and pulled back. “Aaaaarrrrruuuuuuggggghhhhh!” he screamed as he pulled it out. He spit it away and looked at his hand which shook now and bleed freely.

“Okay, Howie, there’s an elevator a few corridors away from you. Turn left from where you are and go left again at the second turn, in the middle of that hallway is a right turn, in there is the elevator.” A.J. was saying.

As he spoke, the robots face went blank and suddenly change to the map, a green line suddenly started drawing from their location to the one A.J. was describing, Howie was nodding as he listened.

“Alright, we’ll meet you up there man. Hopefully.” Howie said, muttering the last part. A.J. nodded.

“How long will it take you?” He asked.

“After five hours, assume were dead.” Howie said in a matter of fact tone.

“Good luck.” A.J. said really meaning it.

)))Well luck really hasn’t helped us so far.((( The robot piped in. Howie glared at it before turning back to the screen. He nodded to A.J. and A.J.’s face disappeared, the screen turned off fully. Leaving Howie and the robot in complete and unsettling darkness.

A.J.’s eyes faded back to their normal brown color, the tube slid out and A.J. quickly turned around.

“Let go!” He said hurrying forward.

“Howie and R2?” Kevin asked.

“There gonna meet us there, hopefully.” He added. Kevin knew what he meant and they exchanged grave looks. Kevin quickly grabbed Brian’s arm and pulled it around his neck.

“Come on, help me with him.” He ordered and A.J. grabbed his other arm. They struggled to stand as Nick scrambled to his feet. As they stood another sound rang out, they froze as the sounds of the ship settling continued for a second.

Kevin licked his lips in anticipation and nodded.

“Lets hurry.” He said, not wanting to say it, but having a feeling, that wasn’t just the ship settling. Everyone seemed to know that though.

```( )```
Howie frowned as they stood in complete black, he looked around but couldn’t see anything really. He sighed and turned to the corner.
“Lets move it R2.” He said as he cautiously stepped around. The robot quickly trampled after him as Howie walked slowly forward, he listened intently. He wasn’t as afraid as the guys would probably think, though with what he knew now about the thing running around the station he sort of was, but when he had first came out of the sensory depravation chamber, he had been alone, so this wasn’t exactly new to him now. And he did have the robot traveling with him, but that did little to comfort him. He breathed in slowly and evenly as he kept on full alert.
They passed the first hallway, it was darker then the others. Howie looked at it uneasily as they passed.
The robot stopped in front of it staring at the darkness before turning and rushing after Howie. Taking a deep breath, he broke out into a cold sweat as he approached the second doorway A.J. had talked about. It was dark in there as well and Howie could barely make out anything, though there really wasn’t anything to make out. He stopped as he stared in and looked at the robot as it clicked its fingers.
“Man, this is so creepy.” Howie muttered looking back into the hallway.
)))Maybe it won’t be so bad.((( The robot suggested, Howie slowly looked at it with a queer look. It clicked its fingers again.
)))Or maybe it will.((( The robot quickly amended, Howie looked back at the hallway and sighed.
“Well, now or never.” He said and brazenly walked forward into the thick darkness. The robots moving gears and its heavy footsteps seemed to be amplified in the hall. Howie had never been so tense in his life, that combined with the seemingly never ending fear also had something to so with it.
Howie had a cereal feeling as he walked, in this darkness he felt like he was walking in a dream, the robots sounds were pounding.
Okay Howard, he told himself, nothings going to happen, everything is going to be okay. That thing is gone, no, its not ahead where it would lunge at you and eat you up so you’ll be the next thing it drops through the ceiling at the guys, or where it can just make you another little addition to its nice slimy skin. Or another guest in its mouth! There is nothing to fear, but fear itself.
What the hell did that guy know! He wasn’t stuck on a space station with a monster running er……….crawling around trying to eat you! Yeah, he was reliable!
Howie rambling thoughts sort of helped as he walked as long as he long as he was talking to himself, it would be alright.
The robot suddenly started humming “Three Blind Mice,” as they walked, the slow melody echoed hauntingly through what seemed like the entire deck, hell even the station! But Howie didn’t bother to tell it to stop, instead as they continued walking, watching for the other doorway, Howie began to chant the phrases to the song to himself.
Three blind mice…………..three blind mice………….see how they run………see how they run………they all ran after the farmers wife who cut off their tails with a carving knife, three blind mice.
Wow, what a morbid little song, Howie thought his head going light from the constant barrage of fear that ran through him from every little sound he imagined he heard.
Not only she cut off their tails just cause they ran after her, she did it to disabled mice.
“What the hell am I thinking!?” Howie suddenly said out loud stopping, he sounded exasperated.
The robot stopped humming and walking, it clicked its fingers as it looked at him puzzled.
“Mice are mice! It’s a stupid song! Who the hell would take their time to catch a blind rodent just for the soul purpose of cutting off its tail!” He demanded to the robot, who would have blinked if it could. “I mean, what kind of warped lady would do that!? And if their blind, how could they have chased her in the first place, what’d she do, run in front of them the whole time!” He said slowly getting louder, not quite sure why he was asking these stupid question’s to a working robot. It stared at him.
)))Um…………..what?((( It finally asked completely confused.
Howie realized that he had been babbling, not only to himself, but out loud as well. He almost started laughing hysterically.
“Oh! Sorry! When I’m terrified or something I try to keep my mind off the thing that’s terrifying me, so I talk to myself mindlessly about the stupidest little things that come up.” He said letting out a little sheepish laugh.
The robot clicked its fingers. )))Ooooooooooooooh!((( It said as it finally processed fully what he had said and put it together.
)))I can sing “Its a small world after all” if you want.((( It offered, trying to be helpful.
“NO!” Howie said instantly horrified, “Thanks,” He quickly added. “But ah……….never mind.”
The robot shrugged as Howie turned and began walking again, his fear momentarily forgotten.
“You know……..come to think of it, “Three Blind Mice” isn’t the only song that’s really morbid, “Rock a bye ba-beeeeeeeeee!”
He howled unable to finish as he tripped over something soft and fell flat on his face on the cold hard ground painfully.
The robot gasped as he lay there stunned, it clicked its fingers unsure what to do.
Howie pushed himself up surprised. “What the hell-?” He asked sounding completely stunned as he turned over to see what he had fallen over. He instantly froze when he saw what it was.
A body, ravaged and beaten, Howie could tell that even in the dark. Howie had been so wrapped up in trying to be unafraid that he hadn’t noticed the smell, it reeked of rotting flesh that was over powered by the smell of blood. Howie instantly back peddled away and scrambled to his feet. The person’s head looked like it had been smashed in fully against the wall a few feet up, chunks of god only knew what stained the wall, the person’s chest also looked caved in, and he could barely make out the jaw which was open far further then it should have normally been. Howie felt bile rise up in his throat and he instantly began swallowing franticly.
“Oh god!” He gasped covering his mouth and throat.
The robot suddenly stiffened, it was looking like it was looking past Howie, it clicked its fingers.
)))Um…………who’s that?((( It asked meekly pointing.
Blanching Howie turned to look over his shoulder and his eyes widened. Another body was at the end of the hall, blue light from off somewhere washed very faintly over it just making the outline visible. He could tell it was one of the doctors, they were, or looked like they were just sitting against the wall in the middle of the turn, staring at them.
Holy shit!
Howie’s heart started pounding as he slowly turned back around, that was a hell of a lot more freaky. Seeing some one dead, sitting and staring at you like you were never going to leave, Howie stomach flipped as he gulped, his throat had gone dry. He looked over to his right and saw the hallway where they were supposed to go through, it stood forbidding like a cave with something lurking in it. Breathing hard Howie slowly looked at the robot.
)))Want me to go see who it is?((( The robot asked trying to be helpful.
“No! No, that’s alright.” Howie quickly said, he paused, fright clear on his face.
“Okay, this is okay.” Howie said talking more to himself then the machine, sounding like he was getting more hysterical with every word. “I mean, they smell really bad right? That means they’ve been here a while, doesn’t mean that they have just been killed! That means the creature wasn’t just here waiting for us!” He said shrilly.
The robot could tell Howie was scared out of his mind and was probably doing that, “I’m scared and am babbling again to take my mind off the thing that’s scaring me” thing again, so it came as close as it could to nodding.
)))Uh……yeah. Bad smell, really old.((( It agreed, that seemed to help Howie.
“Right! See? This is good! Isn’t it?” he asked meekly.
)))Well that their old, not dead.((( It suggested and Howie nodded vigorously.
“Yeah, yeah, that’s what I meant.” He said, he shivered, he could feel the dead doctors eyes on his back. He took a deep breath and looked down once more.
“Yeah good.” He muttered, suddenly he stopped and stared down hard at the body. The robot watched as Howie cocked his head at the body, his eyebrows furrowing in concentration.
“Hey, R2.” He said, his mind off his fear now though only temporarily. “Is this a guards uniform?”
The robot looked down, it nudged it with the tip of its booted foot, the body just shifted a little. The robot looked back up.
)))Yep! High commander guard uniform I think.(((
Howie got as close to excitement as he could through his fear.
“He’s a guard! That’s great! That means he has to have a gun!”
He said looking up grinning.
The robot clicked its fingers. )))That’s a good thing?(((
“Yeah! That means we’ll have another weapon! Instead of having to share just the one!” He said holding out the gun he still had.
)))Oh!((( The robot said getting it now.
Howie looked back down, then back up.
“Okay, look for the gun.” He instructed.
The robot stared at him. )))What?((( It asked, not quite believing what it had just hear.
“Get the gun.” Howie repeated. “I don’t want to touch him, and you’re a working robot. So work to get the gun, or guns.”
)))I don’t want to touch a dead body!((( It cried absolutely mortified at the very prospect, its fingers clicking in horror.
“You were willing to go over there and touch him!” Howie said exasperated pointing to the other body, he couldn’t make himself turn to look at it, for fear of losing it.
)))I said I was willing to over there and see who it was, I wasn’t going to touch it and come back with a post mortem exam report!((( It said.
Howie stared at the robot in wonderment, he didn’t know you could program these things with a sense of humor, he quickly shoved the thought aside.
“Listen, we don’t have time to debate-“ Howie stared when suddenly a sound rang out. Both instantly stopped talking and listened.
“Oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
The faint moan rang out, very far away. Howie’s blood froze as he slowly turned to look back over his shoulder. The body was slowly sliding down to the side, it fell softly to the ground at its side at an unnatural angel. It rustled before it lay there still.
“Ooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!”
The moan rang out again, Howie had had enough.
He turned to the robot and quickly mouthed, “get the gun!” before looking back over to the slumped over body.
This time the robot didn’t object, it bent down and began poking around the body, pulling up clothing and pockets with its index finger and thumb.
Howie hesitantly raised the gun and pointed it to the end of the hall.
“Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh!” The moan was like the ones that that creature had given, dull and pain filled. But unlike before, it wasn’t getting closer, it was staying where ever it was, if not getting farther away, a fact that didn’t comfort Howie at all.
The robot suddenly jumped back up, a gun pinched between its fingers, it clicked the other ones on the other hand.
)))Got it!((( It said rather loudly as Howie looked at it. He nodded his approval.
“Good,” He muttered. He jerked his head off to the side, signaling for it to go in the hall, the robot obediently trampled over and through, still carrying the gun like a dead rat. Howie back in after it.
“Oooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
“Come one!” Howie said turning and instantly began running to the middle of the hall, the robot ran after him, its clanking pounding ricocheted off the walls.
Howie skidded to a stop and began franticly feeling the wall, praying they hadn’t passed it. Behind them, the moans ensued, the robot clicked its fingers eagerly.
“Oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
As he trailed the wall, Howie almost lost it.
Stop it! He shouted to himself, panicking never helped anyone and certainly never helped a situation like this!
Then again, who had ever been in a situation like this?
Howie’s hand suddenly ran over something that felt grossly different from the freezing hard wall, it was smooth, glossy. And had buttons.
Yes!
Howie let out a little laugh of relief and he fumbled for his pocket, he pulled out the power disk and felt around the panel for a second before finding the slot, the robot looked around as he slid it in and pressed a button.
The panel instantly lit up, Howie winced and blinked at the sudden bright light. He began punching buttons, his focus switching from his fear and that creature, to getting to the next deck.
“Ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
Howie let out a disgusted cry, “Hey R2,” He called over, the robot looked at him.
)))Hum?((( It asked pleasantly.
“You have a gun, if anything comes down any way from the ends of the hall, shoot it!” He ordered.
)))WHAT!?((( The robot was positively horrified. )))I can’t shoot a person!(((
“I’m not saying shoot a person! I’m saying anything of the non human kind!” Howie said annoyed as he continued typing.
)))What if it’s a robot?((( It asked innocently.
Howie stopped and glared at it furiously.
“Is a robot a human?”
)))No.(((
“Then shoot it!”
