Kevin Garnett took a hard hit after getting fouled ona fast break attempt during the last minutes of the first half in the hornets game. He got up and try to play with it but was to much so he left for the locker room. He returned early in the second half and registered his eighth double-double in as many games this season as the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota lead most of the game and held back a stong comeback run by the Hornets. Down 46-37 at the half, the Hornets scored nine of the first 11 points of the third quarterbut could not get the lead. "We were nervous," Minnesota coach Flip Saunders said. "He took a good shot and we will have to see how he is tomorrow. After he came back in he played pretty well." The Wolves recieved a strong help from their bench, posted a 99-94 victory over the winless New Orleans Hornets. More

Van Gundy was alluding to a poor first quarter in which Minnesota built a 35-24 lead. The Timberwolves made seven straight shots, including a 3-pointer by former Rocket Eddie Griffin, in a 19-7 run late in the period. "This is a first-quarter league, not a fourth-quarter league," said Van Gundy, whose team has trailed at halftime and after three quarters in four of its six games. "We don't have that down yet. It was an uphill battle from jump and the wolves put up a good fight to climb back but it was not enought to win the Pacers who played without artest. Indiana led by 19 points in the third quarter before Minnesota began to chip away behind Wally Szczerbiak, cut the deficit to single digits with 16 points in the 4th. Troy Hudson made a reverse layup with 33 seconds remaining to make it 102-101. But the Wolves missed both atempts at the buzzer or the game winning shot. Garnett din't score any poins in the fourth and the Wolves where out rebounded the whole game. "We crashed a lot of people to the boards," Garnett said. "But it felt like we were down two or three guys." More

New Orleans held a 27-23 lead after one quarter, but Minnesota opened the second period with a 22-7 run led by Sam Cassell, and tooka 54-40 lead into the resece. The Hornets managed to the lead with a 27-10 run in the third. So it all came down to the fourth and who else to step up but the Big Ticket. The pack came back and took the lead with KG hitting a turnaround J and hitting Spree right after with a dime of a steal from Davis.The Pack held on to a 99-92 win.

Second game heading into the new season the Wolves lose a rough one to the Nuggets in OT with a score of 94-92 after Boykins drilled a jumper with 6.8 seconds remaining. There might be a hidden rivalry between these two teams, the game featured two ejections, six technical fouls and 19 lead changes. Garnett carried the Timber wolves in the fourth quarter, he scored his team's final 14 points. But was unable to hit the game winning shot in OT. "I had a pretty good look at the hoop," Garnett said. "It felt good when it left my hands, I just missed it." As for the rest of the game the Wolves did not look tight. Cassel was ejected in the third after picking up two tech's. "We usually have a good flow to our game," Garnett said. "We didn't really move the ball like I know we can."

With the Knicks leading, 30-23, late in the first quarter, Garnett made nine straight shots, including all seven in the second period, to give Minnesota a 58-51 halftime lead. The NBA MVP's 10th straight basket, a jumper from the top of the key on the first possession of the third quarter, extended the advantage to 59-51. The Knicks climbed back into the game behind Stephon Marbury and pulled even at 84-84 just over three minutes into the final period. But that's when Cassell and the defense took over in an ugly final eight minutes. On defense, the Knicks missed their last 12 shots over the final 7:57. Timberwolves have won 10 straight home openers.

Well The reason KG did not attend this summers olympics was his engagement. KG also got his new shoe out launched at the end of the season but he rocked it most of the second half.
