FTP
FTP means "File transfer protocol" and it's the easiest way to transfer files from my computer to the host's holding area, using a special utility. I've been known to forget this part. While this is going on, I have to use the browser to go to the host's website and let them know that the files have been transferred to a holding area. While I'm waiting for acknowledgement from the host, I generally use ACDSee to create the contact sheet.
On occasion I miscalculate how much space I have left and have to make a quick decision: delete a gallery or delete some pix. Deleting a gallery is easier that removing the pix and starting over.
Finally the host's computer tells me that the files have been transferred from the holding area to the web site.
Check Page
As soon as the host tells me that the new page is available, it's examined to be certain the pix and page are where they're supposed to be and that the links work. Obviously I sometimes forget to complete this important step.
New Page Notice
Then I'm supposed to let the "public" know what's happened, by sending a message to Steps_Underground a msg. Would you believe, I've forgotten this?
