Firewing Assault Fighters

FAFs are used by Omega Defense patrols. Their primary weapons are two anti-matter pod launchers. They are equipped with lifters for vertical take-offs and hovering, as well as a standard ion engine and a newly-installed portal emitter. They are powered by a single clean-fusion reactor.

Battleships

Battleships are used by Omega Defense. Their primary weapons are two aft Dasher units, as well as a forward ampod launcher. They are equipped with four energy storage capacitors, two reflective ion engines, one portal emitter and six escape pods, and are powered by five clean-fusion reactors. Crew compliment is 36.

Defense Stations

Orbiting defense platforms, used by Omega Defense. Primary weapons are six laser cannons. Powered by three clean-fusion reactors. Crew compliment is 15.

Delta Clippers

Clippers are usually ground-based vehicles used to ferry personnel to and from orbit. Due to budget restraints, older technology is used in them. They are equipped with gamma-class lifters and are powered by a chemical battery.

Black Widows

Black Widows are used by the Kren. They are normally used to capture airborne transports and ferry them into the Kren's dimension. They are equipped with two grappling arms, a gravity enhancer, an onboard dimension inverter and an aft laser. Power source is unknown. Crew compliment is unknown.

Kren Spikes

Spikes are used for various purposes by the Kren. They are small, but deadly ships, equipped with a single enhanced laser. Power source is unknown.

Pugships

Pugs are used by Omega Defense for reconnaissance and short-range exploration. They are now equipped with a portal emitter and two ampod launchers. Crew compliment is 1 to 2.

Kren Battleships

Kren Battleships are used by the Kren. They are equipped with two proton lasers and a forward inverter. Crew compliment is unknown.

Civilian Transport Ships

Transports are primarily used for transportation between colonies and stations established within the solar system. They are equipped with two civ-class lifters, one civ-class ion engine and one defensive laser. They seat 12 passengers and one pilot.

Each dimension has a unique frequency at which every sub-atomic particle in it vibrates. This vibrational frequency is what keeps dimensions separated from each other and from merging with other dimensions. Devices known as remote dimension inverters, or RDIs, are used to temporarily match the frequencies of two different dimensions in a specific area, which creates a portal, or doorway, between them. Passage through it disrupts the frequency match and collapses the doorway. When created with standard RDIs, the portal has a limited existence of around 14 seconds and will collapse on its own after that time if not used. The duration of a portal depends on the precision of the frequency match.

The solar system is located on the outer fringes of the Terra Nebula. Ordinarily, sound wouldn't be able to exist in space, but the gases from the relatively young nebula provide a medium for sound to travel, in this case.

The human race was virtually wiped out by biological and nuclear warfare in the year 1776 when the Canadian government refused to allow the separation of the 9 Colonies in Vespuccia from Canada. Biological and nuclear weapons were obtained by underground resistance factions from various sources and used against Canada in retaliation, marking the beginning of the Canada-Vespuccia War. Other countries joined Vespuccia in its fight for independence. As the war escalated, the population of the planet dwindled as a result of fall-out from the weapons building up in the atmosphere and being carried throughout the world by changing weather patterns. The seriousness of the situation was soon realized, and the Canadian government called a ceasefire and granted Vespuccia independence, but it was too late. Those who hadn't died in the war would die from the fall-out.

It's speculated that a scientist, realizing that the war would result in the extinction of the human race, found shelter from the radioactive and viral contamination and attempted to restore the population by cloning himself several times and teaching the clones to clone themselves, before he died. Exact details of these events remain unknown.
