CORGAN: Call Vickie Doughty. 7 ----------------------------------------- 8 VICKIE DOUGHTY 9 after having been duly sworn to tell the truth, the whole 10 truth, and nothing but the truth, testified as follows: 11 DIRECT EXAMINATION 12 THE COURT: Go ahead. 13 BY MR. CORGAN: 14 Q State your name, please, ma'am. 15 A Vickie Doughty. 16 Q Miss Doughty, where do you live? 17 A XXXX Whitney Lane. 18 Q Where is that? 19 A It's across from Tri County Tech off of Nowata Road. 20 Q Let me ask you, ma'am, calling your attention back to 21 June the 11th of 1990, did you have occasion to be in the 22 area of Jefferson Road and Lincoln Place that evening? 23 A. Yes. The Vigesaa family who lives on Lincoln Place 24 were on vacation. They're friends of ours from church, 15 and I was picking up the mail at their house. 143 1 Q How long had you been doing that? 2 A That was the first day. They left on vacation that 3 weekend. 4 Q Do you recall when they left? 5 A On Saturday. 6 Q Did you go over to the -- that home that evening? 7 A Yes. I intended to stop by on my way home from work, 8 and I forgot and just went home and fixed dinner and 9 cleaned up the kitchen. 10 And a little after 8:00, I was watching 11 television. I remembered I was suppose to pick up the 12 mail. 13 So I got in the car and drove over and picked up 14 the mail and left. 15 Q What time did you go over there? 16 A Probably was 8:20 or 8:25 maybe roughly. 17 Q And when you got there, what, if anything, did you 18 observe about their residence? 19 A Just drove up to the -- they have a curbside mailbox. 20 I drove up, opened the mailbox, took the mail, backed 21 away, and left. 22 I really -- their house appeared fine. I didn't 23 go in, didn't get out of my car. 24 Q Did you notice anything unusual about the 25 neighborhood? DISTRICT COURT OF OKLAHOMA OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
144 1 A The only activity I saw whatsoever was in the 2 split-level house across the street which would be on 3 Jefferson, as I was driving out to leave, you drive right 4 toward that house. 5 I saw a couple on the front porch and another 6 couple standing in the front yard visiting with them. 7 Q You say you got there about what time? 8 A I'm guessing it had to be 8:20 or 8:25. 9 Q How do you fix that time? 10 A Because I started watching a movie with my husband 11 that came on at eight o'clock. 12 And I watched a few minutes of it and then 13 remembered I hadn't been to get the mail. So I probably 14 left my house at 8:15 or so or 8:20. 15 Q Now, have you had occasion to be interviewed by law 16 enforcement in this case about your activities that 17 evening? 18 A Uh-huh. 19 Q Someone from the OSBI contact you? 20 A That's correct. 21 Q Can you tell us when in relation to approximately 22 June 11th? 23 A It was just a couple days, few days, maybe two or 24 three after this. 25 I don't think it was the immediate day after; DISTRICT COURT OF OKLAHOMA OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
145 1 but a day or two later, I was called at work and 2 interviewed. 3 Q And when you visited with them, were you asked about 4 times? 5 A I believe so. 6 Q And would your memory as to the times of when you 7 were out and about on that evening have been better then 8 or now? 9 A I would assume it's about the same. That's roughly 10 when I remember going. 11 Q Miss Doughty, let me hand you a document, please, 12 ma'am; and I don't want you to read it out loud. 13 But I'd ask you if you would read over that for 14 a second; and after you've had a chance to look at that, I 15 need to ask you some questions. So would you examine that 16 for a second. 17 A (The witness complied with the request). 18 Q Had a chance to look at that? 19 A Uh-huh. 20 Q Would that appear to be a memorandum or report of an 21 interview that was done with you by the OSBI? 22 A Looks like the same information I gave at that time 23 what I've given now. 24 Q In looking at that, are there any times mentioned? 25 A This says 2015 to 2030 military time. I assume DISTRICT COURT OF OKLAHOMA OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
146 1 that's 8:15 to 8:30. I'm not familiar with military time 2 enough to know. 3 That's roughly what I'm recalling that I may 4 have left my house at 8:15. I'm sure I was home before 5 8:30 in that time frame. 6 Q What were you driving that night? 7 A It's a 1989 black Plymouth Acclaim. 8 Q And you say as far as the Vigesaas' home, you did not 9 notice anything; is that correct? 10 A That's correct. 11 Q Did you notice anything in the neighborhood? 12 A Other than what I just told you. As I left, the only 13 people I recall seeing outside at all was just in that one 14 house on Jefferson drive, a split-level home. 15 Q What did those people appear to be doing? 16 A One couple was like sitting in the front porch in 17 lawn chairs, and it appeared another couple either -- I 18 assumed it was a neighbor or somebod walking by standing 19 in the front yard visiting with them. 20 MR. CORGAN: That's all. 21 0 (By Mr. Corgan) Thank you, ma'am. Mr. Carlson may 22 have some questions. 23 --------------------------------------------- 24 CROSS-EXAMINATION 25 BY MR. I just don't even remember looking that 8 at all. I mean, I don't know. You know, I could not 9 tell you if there was or was not. 10 Q You do know which residence is the Allen home. 11 A Yes.
