I enjoy watching gulls (cf my local patches page) and I've sometimes grabbed a few images of interesting birds, usually using a 35mm camera directly through my scope. As can been seen from the pictures, I'm no photography expert and they are more 'record' shots than photographs. Click on an image for a bigger shot.

Record shot of the Banff Bay Kumlien's Gull
This individual was recorded in Banff Bay, NE Scotland between 1981 and 1987. It was one of the first regular UK birds. I obtained these record shots on 25 March 1985.

Fig. 1 on p. 26 of reprinted Gulls, Olsen & Larsson)
