Classic Cars

Ah yes! another of my timeless passions. I have had an interest in cars for as long as I can remember.

But my favourite type has to be classic cars of all descriptions. I can see the beauty in a painstakingly restored 1959 Vauxhall Cresta just as much as a Ferrari Daytona.

I can't imagine how much time I have spent in touring the classic car shows in the UK, and Europe.

I'm fairly lucky in that some friends of mine share the same passion and we often go out in packs to the car shows.

My friend Adrian is fortunate to own a couple of very nice classic cars, He is an AC man, and has for many years been mainly interested in AC's. His pride and joy is a 7 litre V8 Cobra which he has owned ever since I have known him. It has gone through various states of repair and is now as original and immaculate as possible. I have had the privilege of having the crap scared out of me on several occasions in this beast.

Yes, before you ask. It is a proper AC. not a kit car,

My friend Adrian also has another AC, which is a 428 Frua.  Which I think is a very much underrated and beautiful car. In a sea of Porsches, Ferraris and Aston Martins at most classic car shows, I think it can hold it's own amongst the best.

This car shares the same chassis and suspension set up as the Cobra and also the same 7 Litre V8.

Its' basically an AC Cobra with an Italian design Coupe body fitted. It also came with automatic transmission to make it more attractive to the American market.

Unfortunately it was not a commercial success, not being help by the petrol crisis in the early seventies which caused petrol prices to soar by about 300%.
