McMahon's Castle in County Clare is where a sealed room in the derelict shell contains an evil so great that no one has looked upon it and lived to tell the tale. The last time the stones that seal the chamber were opened was in the late 1920s. The exorcist, who then descended to deal with whatever dreadful creature was there, was found the next morning, lying in the remains of the great hall. His death certificate recorded heart failure as cause of death. But apparently no one who saw the poor creature could ever forget the look of pure terror engraved into his cold features. |
