| Situated near to the remains of Hyde abbey where the bones of King Alfred the great lie buried this pub has a haunted reputation. Apparently a woman who was staying there was refused food and heat and one night because of the cold, died. She continues to haunt the room and residents have complained of bedclothes being pulled off during the middle of the night. |
