European Tour De Force - Leg 2

(Full Tour Wrap-Up)

After starting off the Tour with a trip to the Holy Land of Israel, GCW took in 11 different countries as they took in the whole of the UK (England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales), Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Norway and Denmark in a series of shows that ranged from sell-out crowds in medium areans to small, but compact crowds in countries where wrestling isn't as popular in Europe yet.

The major news and happenings from these events where;

Kishi' (Rikishi) came up short in his GCW World Championship match at the Nu-Wrestling Evolution leg on the 3rd of May, falling to Marty Jannetty's Rocker Dropper after a spirited attempt. Jannetty is gaining a reputation as being willing to defend his title against anyone, at any time, and usually suceededing as well!

CM Punk made his GCW debut by defeating Chris Hero in a 60 Minute Iron Man Match at the WXW event in Essen, Germany on the 5th of May in a match that many people thought exceeded their previous epic bouts in the same country.

In other news from Germany, The Belfast Bruiser defeated Alex Wright in a bloody, brutal bout via a Tombstone onto a chair. These two have history, especially in Germany, and this was very evident with the amount of pure hate and violence displayed during this match.

Conscience teamed up with Shawn Michaels in a strange pairing in Bellshill, Scotland on the 12th of May to defeat SWA stars Eric Canyon and Dominator with the Guilt Trip on Canyon.

Majik defeated Shelton Benjamin to win the GCW Super-Middleweight Championship at the Irish Whip Wrestling co-promoted event at the Europa Hotel, Drogheda, Ireland on the 13th May 2006.

The Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Sean O'Haire & Bill Goldberg) with Arn Anderson in there corner seemed to use the tour as an open try-out for that vacant 4th spot in the group. Used in that position in 8-Man Tags throughout the tour where Rob Conway, Alex Wright, Doug Basham, Sting, Ken Kennedy & Mike Awesome with Conway, Kennedy & Awesome said to have impressed Flair and co. the most.

Shelton Benjamin regained the GCW Super-Middleweight Title from Majik at the 1PW event on the 27th of May in Orpington, Kent, England when Majik's cheating backfired and his Magic Dust got spewed back into his own face which allowed Benjamin to hit his T-Bone Suplex to regain the title exactly 2 weeks after losing it to Majik in Ireland.

On the FWA show at the Broxbourne Civic Hall, England on the 28th of May, "Showstealer" Alex Shane finally lost the FWA British Heavyweight Title after defending it against all challengers throughout the tour when he lost to his former protogee Hade Vansen in a rematch from the first leg of the tour. Shane lived up to his moniker though as he got the last laugh by spoiling Vansen's title celebratiobns by nailing him with the One Night Stand before stealing the FWA Title and running away out of the building with the belt to a waiting car!
