"Legend In A Dream"

He came to me in a dream. I saw only his long golden hair as it flowed behind him racing at lightening speed across the stage his fingers a blur as they struck the strings of his guitar. Sparks danced from his finger tips as the sounds of the notes filtered throughout the amphitheater drowning out the roar of the crowd that cheered him on. A smile played about his lips as he left us astounded us with his flair.

A grin so wide it lit up the world. It was infectious. He seemed at home up on the stage. So gifted was the man that now stole the show. Little did I know I was in the presence of a true legend. The chords of the songs ripped through the air faster than a tornado ripping across an open field.

His performance glowed with the full moon that hung in the sky above the stage. Suddenly the stage goes dark. The silence that hung in the air was deafening.

Slowly the lights went up and the band was there but the legend gone. A dark curly haired man stood in his place.

He too could amaze us with his talents. The vibrations from his guitar were felt to the heavens above and I knew in my heart of hearts that the legend was truly gone. Gone was he but his spirit remained.

He lives on in all of us and in the music he left behind. I feel him in my soul and I see him in my mind. So now the band plays on and the dark haired man has earned his place. The legend still plays, ripping out those sounds that are often mistaken for thunder on those dark and stormy nights.

I am still there listening to the music and as the song ends the stage goes dark once more. The crowd becomes silent. The stillness has an eerie feeling to it as we wait for the lights to go up for the last time. Finally the lights go up and I look for the legend and he is there standing before the crowd but his look has changed. Gone is the fire that once burned within and set the stage alight.

The smile was gone and there was something dark about him that I cannot name or do I care to name. I close my eyes because I am sad to see this darkness that has him in its grasp. When I open my eyes again he is gone and I felt as if I had been hallucinating.

The dark haired man stands there once again strumming his guitar and smiling for the crowd. I look behind the band and into the shadows beyond the stage lights. I see him standing there watching. The only thing I can see is the glow of his cigarette but I know it's him. Then I blink and he vanishes.

The stage begins to fade and the crowd’s applause becomes a distant memory as the darkness turns to light and I realize it was all a dream but the legend was very real. For one night I got to meet Steve Clark The Legend In a Dream.

I am dedicating this short little story to Steve Clark a True Legend in his own Time. I miss you dearly Steve. You are indeed a Legend. Thank you for the music that continues to play the strings of everyone's hearts. This was based on a dream I had about Steve.

Steve you were such a great guitarist, I remember seeing you on videos, hearing you on records, and watching you perform in Dec. 1987 in L.A. California! You were also so good looking, I used to love to watch the "Bringing on the Heartbreak" video with your close up. I would say Steve is so cute.
I used to play guitar myself. In fact that's why I call myself "Jammin'" Jean. I even have a guitar that looks like your guitar that I named "Steamin'" after you.
Well I just gotta say I miss you, and wish you were still here!

~ "Jammin'" Jean

Steve, you still mean the world to me and others because you had the talent to be a great musician. You will always be loved and greatly missed not only by your bandmates and family and other fans but by me personally. you gave a new meaning to the word LEGEND you will always be loved and greatly missed. Keep rockin in heaven.

~ Love from Lynette

Steve, This may not not seem like much compared to all everyone else has written, but is still important for me to say. I remember when I first started listening to Def Leppards music, you were very much a part of them and there seems to be a big empty hole now with you gone. Def Leppard has done well since you have left us and you should be very proud as no matter what you will ALWAYS be a part of them!!! But still, it is not the same as if you were still with them, and all of us. You are greatly missed and loved!

January 8, 1991 we lost one of the greatest guitarists in the world Steve Clark. We will always remember him, the music he gave us and the world he left behind. Steve left this world too early in life and remembering Steve we're keeping his memory alive. I started a thread on the forum of Def Leppard.com's site in the Anything Else section titled January 8th

I've been a Def Leppard fan since 1987 and was very fortunate to see Steve play live in 1988. I was totally blown away by him,I sat there in awe of him in the audience, his presence had a profound effect on me and I always hold that in tribute to his memory and his creativity and the music which is his legacy. With this I pay tribute to the best and may these tributes make him smile down on us and warm his spirit for he always lives in the hearts of his familyand other loved ones, friends and bandmates and the fans. Rock on steve you are the best....

A Plea From the Tortured
I beg of you to understand me,
I plead with you to hear,
I beg of you to see this pain
before I dissapear,
I beg of you to hear these deamons
screaming from within,
I beg of you to feel these snakes
crawling underneath my skin,
I beg of you to strip me to the bone,
and see the one inside,
I beg of you to open up my soul,
and and see the child bound and tied.
I beg of you to let me express my sorrow,
my anger, and my ache
I beg of you to see for what I am,
on of the creators little mistakes.
I beg of you to let me go,
to bring an end to the hell of my life,
I beg of you to help me claw
bloody fingers toward the light.
So I beg of you to let me die,
to feel the wonder of relief,
But please knowthat I have entered Grace,
and feel some pleasure in your grief.

Belladonna St. James

In his 30 years, only music brought Steve Clark so relief, and in the end, death was the only escape. In a harsh world where few understand you and even fewer can deal, I can only say hes in my blood, and every breath, every word, every emotion carries Steve......and his pain.......
