Jane

An attempt to show Rachel that we care.

You were young, pretty
An absolutely wonderful girl
Her close friend, confidant
At times, it seems I've known you for years

I miss you some days
I hate the fact that I'll never know
Who you would have been
What you would have said
How you would have felt

I'll never see you smile
See your hair blow in the wind
We'll never split a pack of M&Ms
I'll never share a new song with you

I'll never talk to you about your day
Your career
Your romantic interests

We'll never talk of her
Share her poetry
Discuss why she "doesn't like blondes"

I'll never share my worries of her with you
We'll never talk about her feelings of guilt
I'll never hear you say what I know you feel for her
I'll never hear you free her,
though I know you never carried any blame

I carry a bit of guilt myself
For missing you like I do
It's selfish I know
There's no way that my pain can compare

To those who knew you in person
And not just through words on a page.
